I read the reviews and of course was very hesitant to register with Garlinge. I registered with this surgery a couple of weeks ago. Since then I've been in and out, first to make an appointment and then to add to my medications etc. And various other things. I did see a doctor about various ailments, and he had a pleasant manner and supplied me with my necessary prescription. I am quite forgetful and thought I must be driving these receptionists nuts, with the same questions. I have met a few different receptionists and I have to say hand on heart, they were professional, very friendly and helpful. No complaints from me. I can be a difficult person, without intention but interacting with such helpful and caring people, makes me feel very comfortable and at ease and my awkward side doesn't seem to show itself. This has been my experience, and I am very happy with this surgery.

I recently took my friend to an appointment at this surgery. During his visit the doctor wished to carry out an anal examination and said while doing this she needed someone else present. He was asked if he would prefer me or someone else, he took the 'someone else' option. He was highly embarrassed to see the 'someone else' was the receptionist who knows him! He had expected a professional as a nurse was on site at the time. This is surely highly unprofessional in the extreme!! The surgery is looking a bit run down since The Limes took over and radios blasting out rubbish not very helpful. However, appointments are not too much of a problem and care is usually satisfactory. Where I can I have answered some of the questions on this site on behalf of, and in agreement with, my friend.

I've recently moved to the area, and hand on heart this is the very worst surgery ever. Reception staff are unhelpful and appointments don't seem to exist. I was told to rock up at 8am and queue like everyone else. Bit difficult when I have to be at work! AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

I just wanted to say thank you to the Nurse who saw my Mum today at 9.30 am. We are patients of the Limes and they couldn't fit us in, but the receptionist at the Limes was very helpful and said we could be seen at their Garlinge practice. I took Mum along as she had a fall yesterday, but she didn't want as fuss made at the time. However, when I checked on her this morning, I was concerned about the wounds so rang up to get an appointment. The nurse was very kind and dressed Mum's wounds. She also booked us in for a follow up appointment at the Limes next week which was great. As I work, I really appreciated the speed in which Mum could be seen (she is 80) and obviously we worry about her. It also helped me as I had to shoot back to work so thank you so much from an appreciative daughter!

The Surgery and staff are first class, my only complaint would be that instead of using my name the nurse said hello sweetheart when I entered her room. The following ,which was not of the nurses making, also annoyed me. I was there for a health check but really it was a tick box exercise. I consider myself to be a healthy and very active person, I do not take any medication at all, but came away feeling annoyed at being told I was inactive and obese. I am a size 12 and my very active life style includes walking a good 30 miles a week, looking after three grandchildren under the age of 2, 3 days a week, looking after my 96 year old mother, plus my gardening, housework and all other domestic stuff. Time to sit down and be inactive. I think not. I would not attend another health check.

Response from Garlinge Surgery

Thank you for your very positive feedback regarding the surgery. I am sorry that your health check wasn't a positive experience and apologise for the nurse's lack of professionalism. I will feed back your comments to the nursing team so that they remain professional at all times. The NHS health check programme will appreciate your feedback as the program obviously doesn't accurately measure activity as we see it. It's cardiac and aerobic exercise that it measures. However the cholesterol measurements do indicate more accurately the health status and in general it is meant to be taken for guidance aiming towards lowering cholesterol and preventing heart disease. Please do discuss with your GP if you have any concerns. Thank you for taking the time to give us your valuable feedback. Practice Manager
