Whereas I appreciate it must be difficult dealing with people from all warps of life on a daily basis and potentially these people may not always be the easiest to put up with, it appears that your receptionists have zero people skills. I have witnessed the rude an offish tones in which they speak to people on many occasion and personally. It’s not pleasant and on many occasion there has been no need for this. These are the first people we see and hear when we call and often they are just plain rude AND MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A PROBLEM!!! They should not be speaking to anyone in this manner elderly or young. They are paid a wage to represent your practise and deal with all types of people, difficult or not and it appears they do not have the people skills to do so. Believe it or not many people put off going to the doctors until they feel really bad, so more often than not the person on the phone or in front of them is not feeling there best only to be made feel worse but receptionists playing doctor and full of their own self-importance and talking about things they do not understand. This has been an ongoing issue in your surgery for the past year especially towards to elderly. I’m not talking about myself as I’m a spring chicken at 34 :O) I’m sorry I even have to write this because I have always received EXCELLENT treatment from any doctor or nurse I’ve seen at the surgery, and over the years there have been the odd few that have gone above beyond reception wise, but that’s been missing from your surgery for a good few years. We don’t want above and beyond receptionists we just don’t want to witness the elderly being spoken to like they are inconvenience or people being spoken down to because your receptionists are having a busy morning and can’t cope. That’s not our problem – they are paid to be there, we are there because we are sick or struggling and if they cannot feel empathy for people and chose to be so short - why should we try and be understanding when it comes to them having a busy morning and except this as an excuse for their rudeness.
