I tried to get our second vaccination slightly early as my wife has spent the last 3 months in bed every day for most of the day feeling really unwell suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s. I explained that whilst at our property in Spain for 90 days she spent part of one day in bed and only then because she was tired. This has also affected her mental state. I am 81 and her full time carer so it also makes life very difficult for me as I am an extremely vulnerable person. My object was to get ready to get her back to Spain asap. Her consultant also agreed that it would benefit her to get back to Spain ASAP. It seems that none of this mattered when my case went before the partners and they chose not to recommend providing the vaccination early. I now have to try to explain this to my wife who cannot understand how this could happen and frankly neither can I.

Suggested improvements
Used common sense. The answers below relate to my wife who being nearly blind and in her seventh year of dementia cannot answer for herself.

Applied for advice on a medical concern online. Received almost immediate response stating that a GP would phone me the next day. I received a call from Dr Trubshaw early the following morning who after asking for details for my concerns, asked me to attend the surgery the same morning which I did and received a thorough examination and diagnosis.

Suggested improvements
Nothing, excellent service, particularly under current circumstances.

Dr prescribed a blood test. No appointments for a week. Due to go on holiday week test could have been scheduled explained this.Reception spoke Dr who then came back and said actually there was an appointment next day at 9:30am. Came to Surgery at 9:30 only to be told "system down" no blood tests and no other appointments. Told could go to EAST SURREY OR EPSOM Hospital and get test done and to come back for 'paperwork' next day. Did this and went to Epsom only to be told that the Form I had been given was East Surrey form..they very kindly sorted this and did a blood test but the results would go from EPSOM to EAST SURREY then DMP unless Dr called Epsom and they would give results over the phone. I called Surgery 4:30pm and explained this. On making this call I was No.1 in the queue and was left hanging on with the phone ringing for a good 20mts only to be answered by someone laughing and when I explained the situation was met with 'indifference' and asked the question "who should we call at Epsom Hospital?" The whole process of trying to get a blood test for my condition (although not urgent) has been woefully inefficient. I have been a patient at New House/Dorking Medical Practice for over 40yrs and I am finding it more and more awkward and difficult to make contact. I will not even go into explaining about what happened regarding a leg injury I sustained in July whilst on holiday - I am happy to discuss this over the telephone and explain and wrong appointment date and time given to me.

The doctor I initially saw was very good and listened to the concerns I was expressing. I had some tests and bloods done and was unable to get an appointment with the same doctor to follow up so saw Dr Albeyatti who I felt disregarded the reason for my initial tests without wanting to know the whole picture, made me feel like I was wasting her time and I felt rushed out of the surgery very quickly. A real shame as through the whole process I had contacts with a total of 5 members of clinical staff and she is the only one who let the side down- the other 4 were all brilliant and I felt listened to.

It has been very stressful and anxiety provoking trying to get an appointment. Asking for an appointment next week I was told I could only book future appointments from 2 weeks ahead, any other appointments could only be booked by phoning on the day from 8am. so I decided to go online - got a user name and password (was not asked for any ID at all, just gave my address. Tried to sort an appointment on line but it kept saying user name or password was invalid. Send comment to surgery expressing my immense anxiety at trying to get an appointment. Explained that I have PTSD with severe anxiety/depression and that this was causing a lot of distress to the point that I was on the verge of self-harm. The surgery did phone a day or so later saying they could offer me an app. this week. That was helpful. BUT what WASN'T helpful or appreciative/understanding of my situation/PTSD, there was no apology for the stress that had been caused and I felt feeling sad and bad as if I was asking too much. Had app. this morning, explained situation to the doctor, he said asked the ladies at reception for new password/user name. When I asked i was told i needed to show photo ID. As this wasn't requested the first time I got a user user name/password I wasn't expecting to be asked this time. I didn't know I needed to show photo ID. I don't driver so therefore I don't carry photo ID. When I originally went to the website I went straight to the appointments page to try to book an app. so if you go to the website, menu appointments, there is no obvious info about photo ID. Therefore I would suggest putting this info on the opening page of your website for immediate clarity and to aleviate stress and anxiety. Do staff including adim/recptionists receive any mental health training? this is vital, so that you can appreciate and understand the difficulties coping with a mental illness causes. I left the surgery in tears this morning, feeling worse than I did when I arrived. : ( NOT GOOD at all. NOT great care.
