The Receptionist was very rude and abrupt with me. I suffer from anxiety, and she made me feel that I had a rude attitude. I have got a long standing issue with my back and she was telling me that she couldn’t make a doctor’s appointment for me as I had another 2 weeks supply left of my medication. I felt myself getting more anxious and I wanted to turn and walk out. I stood my ground and told her that when I had the doctor’s appointment, he said that I could ring up to speak to a doctor about increasing my dose. I found myself saying “ sorry!” I felt that it was MY fault. I understand that the NHS is stretched and that it is difficult to get an appointment. There are patients that are rude to Receptionists. I feel that she has taken out her frustration on me. She didn’t apologise. I went to work feeling very upset. When I spoke to the doctor, he was lovely and supportive. I told him about the Receptionist who had booked this appointment. He apologised and reassured me that he would pass this feedback to the Admin team.

Suggested improvements
. The Admin staff need to be more sensitive to the patients needs. A polite, warm and friendly manner would help. I have been with Didcot Health Centre for 47 years. Most of the. time the staff are pleasant. But the way she had spoken to me , had triggered off my anxiety. I have had chronic back pain for 5 years . The medication that I take has to be reviewed by the doctor. I do not deserve a frustrated, rude Receptionist to take it out. me!
