Fully involved with very clear explanations by Mr Chakravarthy of my treatment options and what to expect both with and without treatment. I delayed surgery when it was first offered (work commitments) but opted to go ahead following a subsequent appointment. Possible outcomes were explained in detail including risks/complications and the likelihood of them occurring. As a retired nurse I found this very helpful indeed. The suite at Carlisle was scrupulously clean. There were no receptionists at the Carlisle clinic, but the contact I had with the admin team re. my appointments and the surgery date was entirely positive. The appointment process was easy with excellent communication and an understanding of my needs with regard to timing and flexibility.

Suggested improvements
There was nothing that CMS could have improved on.

I had a vasectomy today and was very nervous about it. The procedure was quick, completed professionally and pretty much painless. The wonderful staff chatted to me throughout the procedure and their caring manner really put me at ease. My thanks to these lovely people.

An Inguinal Hernia operation carried out at Maryport by Mr Dresner and Dr White and was performed on 7th of January which went 'drastically wrong with nerve damage' (Surgical Doctors words at A&E Carlisle) The next morning intense pain led to being admitted to Carlisle A&E and on to 11 days on morphine and strong medication since. Different medications were tried by my own Doctors but was only partially successful. After a month, at an appointment with CMS, I learnt that a nerve had been cut and the correct medication was prescribed.

Suggested improvements
There was no follow up care, or even a phone call, and only after getting an appointment a month later was it disclosed that a nerve had been cut, as such I could have been started sooner on the correct medication. After my release from A&E my phone call to CMS should have led to immediate treatment for nerve damage. This was not offered. Difficulty in getting a follow up appointment.

Everyone I was contacted by or met was professional and welcoming. My phone settings (unbeknown to me) were blocking withheld numbers but the person on reception at my appointment persevered and saved the day by using a different phone to locate me in the car park (a COVID restriction). I was extremely grateful as I may have missed my appointment otherwise. The surgeon I saw (Mr Chakravarthy) for a shoulder condition was really excellent, interpreting the ultrasound images for me as he assessed my condition and, after a full discussion, administering a painless injection with great precsion (also watched on the scan). He was assisted by a very reassuring colleague who ensured I was fully comfortable thoroughout.

Suggested improvements
Nothing springs to mind - I was very satisfied with the visit.
