I know that many dislike the new systems for appointments, but actually I like them. It can take a while to get through on the phone, but once you do I have found everything is very efficient. It helps to explain your health problem clearly to the receptionist. They are professional and a part of the surgery team. If they have an idea of the problem, then they can make sure that you see the right person. When I had a more minor health concern, I was given a telephone appointment which worked really well. The GP did not really need to actually see me and was able to diagnose over the phone. They also emailed me some links to articles about my complaint and also some instructions for exercises to try. All done without having to leave my home! On the other hand, when I had a more serious issue, I was booked in for a face to face appointment that day and referred to Musgrove immediately. I was really impressed (and very grateful) at the speed with which I was dealt with.I would also add that I find the whole team very friendly and helpful. I have been a patient here for over 50 years and I wouldn't change - although it is fair to say that the personnel have over the years!
Seems to have gone downhill in the last year. Am looking to move to somewhere else.
Please be careful with your data the gp in question continued with a referral to a hospital where family and friends work in against my request. The letter contained sensitive information and ill I can get is an apology for the data breach! Be very careful who you trust in this practice
