It is nigh on impossible to get through, especially in the morning. The website has clearly not been updated for moths and months, you are told to book appointments using ask my G.P via my health online...both sidtes have been closed for at least 6 months!! When you ring you are also told to use Ask my G.P...so the phone message clearly hasn't been updated for at least 6 months either. You are then told you will be placed in a queue, you are not, after hearing the engaged tone, you are simply cut off. I appreciate there are severe shortages in the NHS but the points above are down to pure sloppy practice. Some of the questions in this survey are irrelevant, please change them

During Covid the AskMyGP electronic system was introduced, which was Brynteg's downfall. This has made it even more difficult nigh impossible to get an appointment, it's also given the medically untrained receptionist that reads the AskMyGP messages a god complex. She is medically untrained, yet she decides which patients get to see a doctor the same day, and which ones go on the list to wait for up to 4 weeks. If you're on the latter 4-week list, you'd better not dare re-submit your request! Brynteg has recently put a notice on their website asking patients to sign a petition asking for the Welsh Government for more money, and threatening that the surgery may even close! This used to be a great surgery, but now the receptionists are rude, you can't get to see a GP, what's the point?

The problem is not so much the doctors as the way the surgery is now managed to exclude patients and keep them at bay. It has taken me 3 weeks to get to see a doctor about an acute pain. She was lovely, but i was meant to see one last week after complaining about the inaccessibility and I sat in the surgery so long I could no longer stay (I was too il) only to get home and find Dr Smith has electronically ‘completed’ my query 15 minutes after I arrived at the surgery even though he had not seen me and I was still waiting for a further hour after he had signed the job off. I have had contact with the practice manager, but I don’t think they think there is anything wrong with the way the surgery is being run, apparently they have more staff than before covid but have more patients. I checked they have about 400 more patients since 2017. Does this really explain why this once friendly, accessible doctors surgery now only deals with ‘urgent’ cases on the day (no definition of this is given) and if you wait 4 to 6 weeks (the current time apparently) for a non urgent appointment you will still only be given an appointment at the drop of a hat. This surgery is not serving it’s patients well, regardless of the increase in numbers there must be a better way to organise things whereby some appointments are held back for emergencies and some given in advance so that patients can plan their day, transport, health needs. Otherwise many patients will just leave preventable problems until they are urgent and it will cost more in the long run not to mention lead to more stress, and suffering for the individual.

Why is it that I ring ( because askmygp has been closed down) I listen to the options and spiel about how to contact the surgery..... that you cut me off. If the lines are busy, Don't answer in the first place!. I am very frustrated after trying on more than 4 occasions this morning to be then cut off. After all, I have been asked by you to contact the surgery.

Suggested improvements
Don't answer and go through option and then cut off the call. It's not very nice.

I, joined this surgery in October 2020. I, have cancer, heart disease and am mid-way through an MS diagnoses. After suffering with severe shoulder pain (right), my missus asked for an apointment for me via the online thing (I, don't use a smart phone). She listed the three ailments that I, already have. Imagine my surprise to see a reply fro Dr Smith, stating he would like to see me, to discuss my "health anxieties" as he put it. Whilst at the appointment, it became abundantly clear that , this Dr Smith, didn't have the slightest idea that I, have cancer etc. He even started to tell me that, I hadn't had a heart attack, which I, have had three years ago. He, wasn't even aware that I, had incurrable cancer. My health records were sent to Brynteg in November of last year. Either they haven't bothered to put on system, or the doctors don't bother to read the patients notes before commenting. I'd like to think that Dr Smith learnt something from the farce, but his demenour suggested otherwise. Avoid this surgery at all costs. The pharmacy next door is also a chaotic mess, lot's of staff, no clue though.

Suggested improvements
Actually download patients records and read them. Close the chemist.
