Before I start my review on my recent experience I would like to say I have always been impressed by the care I have received from Janet the nurse practitioner. She is caring, takes time to listen and involves you in decisions about your health care. Janet has made a huge difference to my wellbeing over the years. Now to my recent experience, on bank holiday Monday. I experienced chest pain and called 111. I was dealt with quickly and professionally and was given the option to be taken to A & E or to visit my GP the next day. I chose to see my GP. Tuesday 26th May 2020 I arrived at the GP surgery with a copy of my ECG and other results. Sheligh the receptionist could not have been more helpful especially to say she was covering due to staff illness (not coved related). How the surgery was set out I felt safe, before I could enter the surgery I was asked questions to establish that I or anyone in my household did not have coved symptoms. I was then allowed to enter the surgery and asked to go wash my hands and was given a mask. I them went into see Dr Myres, who was very kind and explained all the tests he wanted to carry out and about my referral to the rapid chest pain clinic. He gave me as much reassurance has he could at this time. Dr Myres requested a 24 hour BP monitoring to be performed, ECG and bloods. He then gave me the information to pass onto the receptionist. Again Sheligh was very helpful and made an appointment a few minutes after seeing Dr Myers to save me having to return too many times to the surgery. 10 minutes later I was sat with Thea the health care assistant. Thea was very friendly and respectful and carried out the ECG and then sent that recording to the cardiac department who confirmed that it sounded good and they were not too concerned. Thea then fitted the 24 hour BP monitor. She then made an appointment next morning for me to return for the results and have bloods taken. My overall BP was good so I felt more reassured. I spoke to Sheligh again before I left regarding a repeat prescription for my husband. She ordered that as soon as she was free and I picked the prescription up the next morning from pharmacy after I had seen Thea. At this very worring time with Clovid 19 to deal with, I was concerned about visiting the GP or the hospital. I just want to say a big thank you to all the staff at Brookroyde surgery for making me feel safe and for such a positive experience. Thank you so much. Kind regards Jackie
