The practice seems to be clean. 2 of the 3 receptionists that I’ve met seem to be nice and helpful. However the doctors that I’ve seen are beyond terrible. They don’t actually listen, and rule out all of your concerns as “nothing to worry about” (this refers to my boyfriend’s grinding joints and disc problem and my mother’s former growing lump that was genuinely sucking the life out of her, and a serious rash that I had and was giving me difficulty breathing). All they do is say you have nothing to worry about and dismiss you after a) misdiagnosing you or b) saying they don’t know what’s going on with you. They have misdiagnosed me twice now. They don’t even try to understand you or what might be going on with you. The practitioners see you purely to get rid of you. When I asked a question, instead of answering, Dr. Tawfik Abdel-aal walked up to the door and opened it while I was still speaking. When I repeated my question for clarification and reassurance, he walked out of the room and held open the door to the reception for me to leave. (Bare in mind it was not busy at all, there were only three other people in the waiting area and it was two hours before closing time. My family and I did not feel heard at all and were NOT helped in the slightest! The only time that they tried to help me was when medical consultant Ms. Nerisa Mohammed misdiagnosed me and prescribed me anti-fungal cream and shampoos, which caused my symptoms on my face to worsen by inflaming my face. My face was so swollen that I had a temperature and severe difficulty breathing all evening and night!
The surgery has become what is called 'Practice Plus'. There aren't many of these in the UK yet but they're basically an attempt to bring GP services into the 21st century with online services, apps, telephone appointments and appointments at weekends and evenings. It sounds great in theory, and the extended appointment availability is a great feature. But unfortunately the staff aren't really on board with the technology and are still caught up in red tape and years of being institutionalised in the slow public sector way of working. It's more tedious and inefficient than my old practice which didn't have all the tech. I'm only really staying with it because of the opening hours, because every interaction I have to have with the practice is frustrating.
