Saw Barbara, the nurse practitioner. As always, she was professional, thorough, efficient, knowledgable, but more importantly approachable and a great listener- treating me for a problem that has been dogging me for several months. Thank you! Nurse practitioners, especially prescribers are a true asset to any surgery- in my opinion the NHS need to value these under estimated bastions of the modern healthcare system, who can see, treat and refer without the need of a GP, allowing them to deal with other pressing issues. Well done, keep up the good work as always!

Beyond useless! I order a repeat prescription using the "easy new online system" receive confirmation of the prescription being issued. I'm unable to get to the surgery during opening hours because I work (a totally unreasonable situation it seems to the rentals receptionist). A family member visits the surgery to collect the prescription for me and they're told that I haven't had a prescription since February! Will be switching surgeries!

i tried to phone for an appointment every time they picked up phone then put straight back down i went in there was no patients in front of me i was first in line i still had to wait 20 minutes before the receptionist even acknowledged i was there even though i made my presents known. i inquired about getting a copy of my medical records ( i need a copy for my job) i was told i would need to make an appointment with my gp i said can i make an appointment she made me one. i arrived on the day of the appointment which was supposed to be at 10.30 am on monday 3rd october 2016 i signed in with the receptionist at 10.20 at 11.10 am i still had not been seen i spoke to the rude receptionist who told i would be seen when i will be seen and that i was rude. at 11.45 i still had not been seen i spoke to the other receptionist she checked my name on file and said we are sorry but the appointment was not booked i stated i cam in only 3 days previous on the friday and was told my appointment was monday 10.20 she told me all she can do is re book my appointment only problem is appointment is not for another 10 days

I think Birchington Medical Centre does a great job. Under the new way of working it takes to long to book to see your own named Dr. But to get a appointment on the day it is best to go down at 8am. Or you never get through on the phone. But once you get an appointment it is a great service.

I have recently moved into the area so was not sure about this surgery due to the reviews. I was forced to move as Westgate couldn't cover us any more due to our new postcode. I can say I actually much prefer this Birchington Surgery, as yes you do have to wait in a queue on the phone sometimes, but this is better than attempting to call 20 times to Westgate to eventually get through to reception. You also do have to wait for an appointment if non urgent but would rather this and have a date than be told you have to call in on the morning (20 attempts later!). But when I did need an urgent appointment Birchington Surgery got me in within half an hour. Also excellent doctors here, they have sorted out the minor issues we have had to deal with for years and got the ball rolling very quickly. The nurse had to give my 12 year old her first blood tests and they were so good with her she didn't even feel it. Really great people here we are very happy. I am very pleased we had to move Doctors. I don't feel we have had to compromise at all and are now much better off. Every time I have seen any of the receptionists they have been extremely helpful, I believe if you meet others with a smile and understanding you will get it back. Waiting times are not too bad either within the surgery normally running about ten mins over, I don't think you ever go in exactly on time, I never have at any surgery I have been with.
