Requested an appointment for my child's severe psoriasis after pharmacist said she needed treatment asap. requested a face to face so head could be seen. Got a phone call many days later after calling 3 times to find out why I hadn't received a call. Was prescribed something without her being seen. It went on raw open wounds causing burns. Rushed to urgent care who couldn't see her after 4.5 hours. So came home. Took another 2 weeks to get an appointment face to face. Appointments kept being made without my input and they were all at times when we were away. If I was allowed to speak to bookings I would be able to tell them instantly if appointment was suitable. each time I was given an appointment I had to return a message to say I couldn't do it, and another 2 days later another inappropriate appointment was made. Went in to surgery to book one and again couldn't do it as the request was sent elsewhere. Finally saw a GP, medication was far too strong, caused massive burns to childs head. Couldn't make an appointment on the phone for same day appointment and when I finally managed to try on the website, all appointments for the day were taken. My child is in pain. Urgent care is overrun, wait of 4+ hours to then be turned away with a skin complaint and told to see GP. Cannot see a GP! Unacceptable service for a child in pain for this many weeks

Suggested improvements
Allow me to make an appointment face to face at a time appropriate to my child and me and not when someone thinks I should be able to attend.

My son had an infected skin infection in his ear. Was told to go to Boots, the pharmacist told him he needed antibiotics. He spoke to the surgery again who basically said they couldn’t help as they had two Gp’s off sick. He phoned 111 and had to travel all the way to Swindon to sit for two hours to be given antibiotics.

Suggested improvements
Have GP’s or others available to prescribe antibiotics.

I visited Sutton Benger surgery this morning having got an appointment with Dr. Church. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming, making me feel relaxed. Dr. Church listened to all my concerns and took appropriate action…. so I left the surgery a contented patient. Well done, a commendable turn around after a few very difficult years. Barbara Land

In the process of moving surgeries as not acceptable that a child should have to wait to long for appointment mixed communication from gp ,nurse and reception not listening to parental views on medication at all even when evidence stated and suggestion by pharmacy and 111 rude in responses via messages no face to face asthma review for 3 years or more for one of my children currently awaiting a referral to chest clinic at hospital a long process to get through to anyone

Suggested improvements
Better communication better understanding of a parent views as they are with the child all the time faster responses and back up plans regarding medication not hiding behind txt messages to be passed on via reception

The length of time waiting for someone to answer the telephone is not acceptable anything from 20- 60 minutes and to wait over a month for a face to face appointment is also unacceptable. The staff and doctors are very good, when you can get to see or talk to them
