The doctors here have always been great. Been a patient for 25+ years. But the problem has always been the reception staff. I don’t know why they seem to be so uncaring and uninterested. I have witnessed over the years so many occasions when some of them are actually rude rather than bother to sort out problems in a polite or calm way. I always wait to be seen by my doctor which is not a problem as he gives so much attention to all his patients but massive problems from reception staff if I were to be but a few minutes late. Stuck in traffic on a bus once coming from work stressing as I knew I was going to be at least 10 minutes rang so did the obvious thing and rang to explain my situation. Their response was so unhelpful and judgmental that I ended up in tears. This was the first of many times over the years when I was so exasperated by the lack of care and barest minimum standards of customer service that I cried. I understand they are the gate keepers for the doctors but why must they treat people with such disdain when quite often we are in a vulnerable position? Again must repeat the doctors excel especially Dr Marco who has been the difference between sink and swim for me during a recent serious health issue. The reception staff need some sort of training in dealing with us, and I do hope they recognise that they can cause harm and need to adjust their behaviour. The minimum surely is a smile and that might make all the difference to us which might improve their own job satisfaction. Here’s hoping.

I joined this surgery last year and have been really happy with the service overall. The receptionists aren't always overly friendly (they are all nice) but are very efficient at getting you checked in and booking appointments. The doctor I had was really lovely and genuinely seemed to care about my health. I also had a blood test taken but a very serious man who again was super efficient and I didn't feel a thing! A nurse I saw at a later date was also extremely helpful and great at her job. I did have to wait quite a while for my test results which was a little stressful as they can only ring you during certain times. I happened to miss the call during my 5 minute cycle commute home and so had to wait another week as the practice had closed and she wouldn't be able to call until her next slot the following week. I think a second attempt to contact me or a number to call back on would have been good as I was a little concerned. Overall though it is a friendly practice and the doctors/nurses I have had have all been really good, helpful and thorough. Nice and clean and modern hand I would definitely recommend it.

Excellent surgery, I have been a patient for over 22 years. System is excellent in getting an appointment and speaking to my GP. I always see my own GP unless she is on holiday. Reception staff have always been helpful to me. On an occasion I had cause to complain about a different doctor they investigated promptly, kept me informed throughout the process and I received an apology letter. My friends and colleagues tell me of awful situations with other GP practices where they never see the same Doctor and wait weeks for appointments. I am thankful that I am with Bethnal Green Health Centre.
