Receptionist was very rude and spoke about me on the phone to the GP IN FRONT OF ME.

Suggested improvements
Improve communication and perhaps training of reception staff - it is totally unacceptable to be spoken down to like that.

I've been using this doctors surgery for the last 3 years and overall I'm fairly unimpressed. When they changed their booking system it went downhill and in my opinion they haven't recovered yet. Just to book a blood test or repeat prescription appointment I need the doctor to call me back - this takes time out of their day where they can be seeing other patients so to me personally this is a waste of time. Each time I call I have to explain (where they repeat what I say so the whole world can here!) to the receptionist who then states the doctor will call me back - god forbid I miss the call as then I have to call back and be on hold for ages regardless what time in the day it is. My most recent encounter has been the worst and I'm glad I only have to go once a year. The particular visit has been an absolute shambles and I don't normally leave reviews but this needs to be addressed - I put my repeat prescription in as usual and 4 days later walked down to Lloyds to collect my prescription to be told by the lady behind the desk informed me that it hadn't been sent down as there was a manufacturing fault and had been for some time, now I've been taking the same Pill for sometime so to be informed on the day I needed it was not acceptable, I then was handed new paperwork to be told I had to personal go look for a pharmacy that would stock this item - I called around and no one had it in stock, I then had to call on Monday to get some answers to be told that they can't keep up with all of the pills that are no longer being made - surly they are told and they could just leave a note on the system and inform us when we ask for more?.. I asked for a new one to be supplied and that it had to stay at the surgery as I work late - again this simple task didn't happen, I turned up at the surgery and then sent to Lloyds who had been electronically sent it - 5 mins to go before closing time they then tell me that they don't have it - back to the surgery to be handed another piece of paper and told to go elsewhere! - Drove to Boots to be told that the one they had put on the paperwork was incorrect the same one I couldn't get, I then had to call the surgery and finally spoke to a doctor to get another one electronically sent to Boots (after being told I could collect the paperwork the next day - not going to happen). Luckily I have a car and I'm mobile but I shouldn't have to run around for such a simple task, I hope they record their calls as the doctor I finally spoke to didn't really seem overly bothered at 7:45pm and I was stuck in another pharmacy trying to sort it all out! I'm not one to waste an appointment with a cold and if I could avoid seeing any doctor I will and this experience has been the worst.

I have a sneaky suspicion the receptionists are on some sort of commission for every person they can stop from seeing a doctor as this seems to be their primary goal. I went into the surgery with a problem explained it briefly to the receptionist and was told a pharmacist would be a better person to talk to. When I explained the pharmacist I already spoke to advised me to speak to a doctor I was told again a pharmacist would be better person to talk to. I left with no chance of getting an appointment and a week later ended up in A&E. Useless surgery in my eyes avoid and find somewhere else they simply DONT CARE.

Called at 8am and was called back by 8:15 by Dr. Patel. He was extremely kind, courteous and precise in his enquiry. He organised antibiotics, tests and reminded me about flu jab and overdue blood pressure test. I feel very confident at the level of response and efficiency of Ash Vale GP centre and Dr. Patel in particular. Thank you!

I'm so sad to experience the changes that have taken place in this practice, previously I was proud to belong to it but now I hate having to contact it. A 15 minute wait on the phone is not unusual before you speak with a receptionist & then to speak to an abrupt person does not make anyone feel it's caring profession. I understand that they are dealing for long periods just taking details down & referring them on but if they can't handle the job is it possible to find staff that are able to handle people in a courteous manner. As for actually getting to see a doctor, well I'm still waiting ..........
