Receptionists could be more professional and not as smirky. A select few shouldn't be on main reception. A few are quite nice and efficient. I find 2 doctors in particular can't be bothered and make you feel like you're wasting their time and your issues are trivial.

I have been a patient at this practice for over 50 years, I normally see the same two doctors who are Dr MacGillvray and Dr Barr-Hamilton both have a lovely manner, are always very pleasant and understanding. It’s now very difficult to get an appointment if you have a non emergency problem, you are advised to call at 8am, I have done this on a few occasions and I have had to redial up to 200 times. I have always found the reception staff to be helpful I had an issue last week where I had to ask for a telephone consultation, this was arranged for same day and I was advised call Can be 30mins later. Call arrived 1 hour later , the GP (who I will not name at this time) was very unhelpful and rather arrogant, I will never choose to be seen by this female GP ever again,

I would like to express how pleased I am with a doctor who was very caring and orientated. Indeed concerned for patient health. The Doctor I would like to applaud is doctor Macgilvary. He has a very understanding, listening nature and very best patient care. He does the utmost to get to the bottom of the problem the patient is having during illness. I would like to very much for this doctor to be noticed for his care and attention to patience in times of need. Well done as there’s not many around. Doctor Macgilvary is a diligent hard worker and an asset to have in this medical practice.

The Drs are over worked. There are some who seem more compassionate than others. Drs I would personally recommend are Dr MacGillivray, Dr Robison, Dr Ali, Dr McEwan, Dr Barr-Hamilton - just from personal experience. One of the reception staff comes across as very rude and sarcastic. On more than one occasion, this lady in particular has been rude, dismissive and really unhelpful. Not at all what I’d be promoting as part of a healthcare environment which should be patient-centred. The other girls on the desk on the other hand have always been very helpful. Again, this is all just my own personal experience. It is quite difficult to get a same day appointment especially with any certain doctor. Late night clinics would be of benefit. The repeat prescription telephone line is all but impossible to get through to as it is only open for around 2-3 hours split up over the day & seems to be constantly engaged. Lots of great staff doing their best at this practice but probably needing to weed out the ones who aren’t really interested in delivering the best patient care.

This practice has had some bad reviews but I can honestly say I have never had a bad appointment with any of the doctors. Yes it's not easy to get an appointment but Armadale is growing larger every day and it's a small practice so they're doing the best they can under the circumstances. Any issue I have had has been dealt with sympathetically and professionally and I've had a few with Dr Wilson and she's been very good. Armadale has a lot of people who are alcohol and drug dependent and it must be hard to stay 'professional' day in and day out. The doctors are human after all Yes Armadale could do with having a larger practice ... or another practice but that's not the doctors fault
