A receptionist joined the team a few months ago and is very unhelpful and often unpleasant I won't give her name although I know it .when we are feeling unwell a little kindness goes a long way .I get the impression that as long as you don't die of covid 19 it doesn't matter what else you die off .This practice has in the past been friendly and helpful .

Suggested improvements
Treat the patients like human beings.

I sent my B P results in and Dr. phoned to tell me they were fine but wanted me to have s blood test in August, got a phone call from Dr. I was found to have low potassium, she told me what to eat and booked another blood test and ECG for the next day, I was kept informed by phone 3 times after 3 blood test, wonderful service I very looked after by doctor, nurses and receptionist. Next my son had a problem, phoned receptionist got him a phone Call from Dr at Westfield this time, Dr asked him to come straight down to see him, all sorted . Wonderful service by both Allerton and Westfield . couldn't ask for better, all looked after very quickly. .my son has a learning difficulty.

Suggested improvements
Nothing could have been any better.

Access to an appointment with your GP is extremely difficult, constantly having to call on the the day with receptioniats almost guarding access to an appointment. Furthermore, one should not be discussing or having decisions via econsult communicated via receptionists! It's seems the GPs will also redirect to in house serguces without communication with patient! Absolutely disgusting. And, even more unacceptable when one is for the first time coming forward forwith problems about embarrassing problems. Shame on you .

I have been a patient for a very long time. This is a good surgery. Appointments are obviously in high demand as I had to wait three weeks for one. I was asked to come back in four weeks time, when I went to book an appointment at reception I was told I couldn’t as the booking is only three weeks ahead. I think the systems and processes need some work.

I have been registered here since 1984. I have always found the staff helpful. However I was recently missed when a triage should have called me in and was walking about with a DVT for two weeks. I put this down to the Patient Access system which only offered an appointment 2 weeks out - I described the symptoms as an uncomfortable lump affecting my circulation. Since then the practice has got itself in a mess with its computer systems and has not got me onto repeat ordering for prescriptions for Warfarin. The patient access system has been disabled and a new online system is in place but I have been unable to register online. Computer systems used as an interface are fundamental to delivering good care and should be fully tested before they are unleashed on patients. This is a serious lapse by Allerton Medical Practice and needs to be sorted out as a matter of urgency. I have a new condition that may become long standing.

Response from Allerton Medical Centre

I am so sorry to hear about your recent experiences - I would be very grateful if you would feel able to contact me at the practice so I can understand more about your circumstances. Our migration went very smoothly and the team have been working very hard to get to grips with the new way information is presented. This is why I would like to know in more detail about your experiences as I would like to follow up any possible user error or identify where something has gone wrong. We have completed the migration to our new system and we are rolling out online access to the new system according to plan. If you still have not had your online details, it may be that some of your personal info is not verified. If you would contact the surgery, we can arrange to get you back online and ensure your repeat medications are accurate. Please contact Lindsay at the practice. Many thanks
