I find the process of booking an appointment stressful, but once I get an appointment the GPs and nurses are all very friendly and helpful. I normally speed dial bang on 8:30am until I get through. I have always managed to get an appointment, either on the day or within 2 weeks (if it isn't urgent). My only complaint, a minor one, is that they no longer have current magazines to read while you wait, and sometimes the wait is very long if the doctor is running late. It would be a nice addition to the waiting rooms.

It is not easy to book an appointment - it takes numerous calls at 8.30am prompt to get a connection and all the appointments get booked within a few minutes. Once you have an appointment the visit to the Drs is excellent - I have always been well looked after. Following my operations I did not have any problems getting an appointment with a nurse to change dressings when I needed one.

I always manage to get a same day appointment if I really need to see a doctor by calling at 8.30 that morning. Dr Christie is always extremely helpful and more recently Dr Sills has given me prompt and good, well explained/reasoned advice - once for a referral to a surgeon and once for a minor ailment. I always feel confident in the advice given to me by the doctors at The Acorn Practice and am very grateful to have it as my local clinic.

Had a blood test this week. Sue Weatherall is the best primary care phlebotomist I have ever had. It was completely painless. She was as good as any paediatric phlebotomist, who tend to be better because they work with young children. She was also very nice and friendly, taking care to put me at ease before putting the needle in.

I think the partners Drs Jackson, Christie and Momic provide care and expertise which, quite simply, shows the NHS at its best. I have found them to be excellent diagnosticians, at the same time showing consideration for me as a patient and, above all, listening to me. The practice is so good that it is a major factor keeping me in the area; I am aware how hard it is to find GPs this good. In my view the Acorn practice should be designated an NHS beacon of excellence. In the past, some individuals on the nursing, phlebotomy and admin/ support team have not been as helpful or friendly as the medical team; however I find that this is improving with time as some of the 'old school' leave/retire. Some could still do with the friendly advice that it really helps patients - who are usually nervous when they come to consult the doctor - to be greeted with a smile rather than a scowl!
