I tried unsuccessfully to complete an online form to register so I decided to go in person. I stood at the reception desk for 10 mins and was totally ignored so I walked out.
The experience did not inspire me to transfer to this practice
When you ring Abington Medical Centre, one of two things will happen. Either you will join a telephone queue with so many people in it that you will have to wait up to 2 hours for your call to be answered. The other possibility is that the telephone system will already be dealing with the maximum number of calls and the system will put the phone down on you. It is not surprising that people turn up at Accident and Emergency departments with non-emergency issues, if their GP is Abington Medical Centre then this will be the only way they can get any care because they have been failed by their GP at the first hurdle (answering the phone).
I have had to go private to get a procedure which is costing me over £8k cos i can't deal with the long NHS queues and 1yr wait for a 45mins procedure. Now to reduce a bit of this cost, the private doctor has suggested i get some of the tests and scans done at the NHS and Abington medical centre will not refer me to get simple tests that i would normally get done.
I mean what's the wisdom in this? why do i pay tax? i would have thought they would even be happy to refer me seeing i am saving them some cost going private. As if this heartless decision isn't enough, a staff who doesn't understand what empathy is still had to call to pass the message. She was so unnice and inhumane with the "great" piece of information she had for me.
Glad i am moving houses and can be out of this centre for good. Booking appointments means you forfeit your breaks at work staying on the phone.
