This drug was prescribed by my endocrinologist, because of my reactive hypoglycaemia, it improved my initial insulin response, which lowers my spike in blood glucose levels, meaning anything that would usually trigger an insulin overshoot didn't occur. As with reactive hypoglycaemia, the idea that adding more insulin, to an already existing amount of circulating insulin, (too much) was a inspirational idea. After a short while combined with a very low carbohydrate diet, actually lowered my insulin levels to normal. It also helped with control of maintaining a level of blood sugar levels within normal range of blood sugar, which increased the likelihood of better health. Indeed, my health before diagnosis was deteriorating, weight gain, liver and kidney function, fatty liver, high (bad) cholesterol, low (good) cholesterol, high BP, a likelihood of heart disease, obesity, insulin resistance, a more than likely Type two diabetes. Anxiety, sleep deprivation and so on! With all that, the likelihood of an early death was more than probable. Since diagnosis, my health has improved dramatically, my last blood panel results were described as perfect for a man of my age (63). No health issues, in full time work. Great energy levels.

This drug made a great difference to how I manage my blood glucose, since I started it I feel a whole lot better than I did with the older things I had been taking. It was a pity I had to see a consultant privately to force my GPs hand into prescribing it as it's expensive!
