Repaglinide is really good for my diabetic control. You take it just before meals depending on the amount of carbohydrate in the meal. It only works for about two hours so there is no ongoing danger of getting hypoglaecemia later on as with some other diabetic medications. It allows me to have a very low carbohydrate diet as well which means my diabetes is extremely well controlled with a now non-diabetic HbA1c. You need to be able to test your blood glucose levels but thankfully my GP gives me test strips no problem.

Profile

Treating type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes in patients who cannot control blood sugar levels by diet and exercise alone. It is used along with diet and exercise. It may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines.
Repaglinide is a meglitinide antidiabetic. It works to lower blood glucose (sugar) by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas gland. Repaglinide does not work in type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes, because in this condition the pancreas gland is not capable of making or releasing insulin.
