Ramipril

Excellent drug! Two days in and my heart rate is perfect with no side effects. Highly recommend this drug.
I am taking 5 different meds following an MI and stent fitted. In April I was rushed to hospital with MI symptoms. Following many tests I was diagnosed this time with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy and given Ramipril 2.5 I took it as prescribed even though the side effects from it were getting worse.
Two days ago I felt so ill I almost called for an ambulance. I decided to stop taking Ramipril immediately even though advised in the leaflet not to. Its been two days since my last Ramipril tablet and so far I feel much better.
I asked my GP today if it was safe stopping it so abruptly and all he replied was ‘Ok I’ll take it off your repeat prescription list’.
No help at all!
Headaches, food tasted awful, chest pains at night, diarrhea, tired during the day and can’t sleep at night, ear ache, vision is blurred and neck pain
Started on 2.5mg which made no difference to my high blood pressure, now on 5mg which seems to be working. But as others have said, Ramipril made me quite tired and also a dry tickly cough. . But i think the worst side effect was terrible constipation. Have to take laxatives most days now which i hate.
A little bit dizzy the first few days I took it.
But afterwards it was no problem and brought my blood pressure down and under control.
