Paclitaxel (Taxol)

I have had this treatment for Breast cancer along with her Herceptin ,on a weekly basis. I was worried as I have a renal transplant. But on the whole it wasn’t too bad. I suffered from fatigue, the odd little bit of nausea, some numbing of my figure tips, loss of hair, But nothing really bad . Not as bad as I had expected
I needed to have plenty of rest the fatigue was pretty bad. The day I had chemo I was totally worn out had to prepare food in advance ready for after treatment. Easy day after treatment then not so bad. Very doable hoping for good results from scan but 6 sessions to go out of a total of 18!
This medication made every muscle every nerve and bone hurt with extream pain for about 8-10 days after treatment. I already had sorriatic arthritis and neuropathy so I’m sure this added to the pain. The pain is so severe pain pills don’t help . I stopped the Neulasta shot with it because the pain was and tolerable. This is the first time without them last time but it still has sharp nerve pain everywhere..
Fatigue, metallic taste in mouth for few days after Taxol administered, slight pins and needles in feet, hair loss, joint aches which are all fairly tolerable when compared to the effects of some other chemos. You and i think your body (and your mind) get used to them after a while and when you get good results with the cancer being kept away, its a definite worth it all. You just have to listen to your body and rest when you can and take life on in a different way.
I had this chemo initially for OC I had a really bad anyfalactic reaction on the second cycle chest pain & shortness of breath, extreme pain in lower back, losing conciseness but within seconds the nurses reacted & administered antidote I was back to normal within 10 minutes as if it had never happened .... amazing really... I continued with Taxol for a further 4 cycles with very little side effects apart from aching limbs & fatigue
