I have had conflicting comments from various medics regarding the suitability of taking this drug over a long period of time.

Very helpful in dealing with acid reflux. Sleeping much better!

Used in conjunction with Diclofenac, to avoid stomached problems. Very effective.

I had ulcerative Colitis resulting in partial colectomy & I have atomach ulcer / heart burn.
I am also on Prednesolone.
I am on Losac twice a day

The advice from my GP to take it before going out when I knew the meal will be rich or might contain trigger foods made it even easier to manage avoiding the severe heartburn and reflux after such an event.
Profile
Omeprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux, ulcers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. Omeprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
