Side effects were not bad for me. It cured GTD twice. Now I'm on the third round of treatment and it's no longer working. Overall the medication was worth it.

I am aware that other people I know who take this drug have experienced nausea and similar side effects, but I have experienced none of these. My rheumatoid arthritis has been completely in remission since I started taking this drug.

I understand some people do suffer certain side-effects as a result of this drug - eg: mouth sores or chronic fatigue. I am in 20mg per week and fortunately don’t seem to be suffering in any way. Without the methotrexate the joints in my fingers were so swollen and painful, and I needed a Zimmer frame to drag myself round the place that the methotrexate has made a world of difference to me. At least I can get on with living my life again now that the pain and swelling are under control.

Was given this for psoriatic arthritis and was on the tablets for a year but had bad side effects. Nausea, sickness and awful diarrhea. Went onto injections a year ago and at first was much better but now getting nausea and diarrhea again. I've never been told what it does but I'm guessing I'll be worse without it. Sometimes I think I'd rather get worse arthritis than put up with the injections and side effects.

With the introduction of the Methojet for injections it has become a lot easier to administer this medicine.

Methotrexate interferes with the growth of certain cells of the body, especially cells that reproduce quickly, such as cancer cells, bone marrow cells, and skin cells. It is used to treat certain types of cancer of the breast, skin, head and neck, or lung. It is also used to treat severe psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis. Methotrexate is usually given after other medications have been tried without successful treatment of symptoms.
