I arrived on Saturday for my appointment. No way to tell anyone I was here. No bell, no receptionist, no member of staff. Nothing. Daunting for an elderly person.
I was impressed by the team at the Breast Services facility, though it would make more sense to email or SMS me rather than sending appointment details by post to avoid making a date that I could not keep. It is clear that this is a very busy service at the hospital, and individual staff seem to understand that patients/service users are likely to be apprehensive about procedures and the news they might receive.
My left hip replacement was done at QA. I was at all times treated with respect and in a timely manner with competent and kind people in Ward D5. Giovi, staff nurse, Nourhan, staff nurse, Davina Cyriac, staff nurse (overnight shift) and Keri, the physiotherapist and other members of the team did an outstanding job. Jack , the anaesthetist was excellent. We discussed the regime that suited me best and what I received was exactly what I expected. At all times I felt safe and looked after with professionalism and good humour. Every moving part went like clockwork, and if there was any uncertainty people were on hand to resolve it. I only had to request help once in my 24 hours in hospital and a nurse appeared quickly and dealt with my query. The operating team led by the Orthopaedic surgeon, Mr Tim Kane, did a terrific job and I was even able to request my own music to calm my nerves. Well done QA and well done the NHS and all the hard working people who worked behind the scenes to make it literally "a smooth operation". I am so terribly grateful.
10/10

I took my mother to A&E yesterday for some pain management. The A&E was clean, highly efficient and the staff were lovely, kind, compassionate. Especially the lovely Nigerian Senior House officer who was on duty, (sadly I didnt catch her name).
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff on Queen Alexandra’s Private Ward for the exceptional care they provided during our son’s recent stay for an ENT operation which included an over night stay.
From the pre-assessment clinic to the moment we arrived, the team was warm, professional, and incredibly attentive—not only to our son’s needs, but to ours as parents as well.
Their kind and reassuring manner helped put our son at ease during what could have been a very stressful time. We felt genuinely cared for and supported throughout his stay, and that made a world of difference.
The facilities themselves were excellent. The room was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully equipped, even including a bed for a parent to stay overnight if required.
We are truly grateful for the high standard of care and compassion shown to our son and ourselves, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the ward to others in need of medical care in a supportive and well-managed environment.
the peaple who are working there are really nice, despite i think the monumental amount to work and pressure they have to sustain.
