I am very disappointed with my recent experience at King George Hospital’s Emergency Department. I waited over 23 hours before being seen, which is completely unacceptable for an emergency setting. During this time, I had no proper place to rest and ended up sleeping on chairs, which made my condition worse. By the time I was finally seen, I felt even more unwell than when I first arrived.
The overall process felt disorganised, communication was poor, and patients were left with very little information or support. This experience has seriously affected my confidence in the hospital’s ability to provide timely and appropriate care.
I have been struggling with ongoing urine problems for a couple of weeks. I have been asked to see a doctor, he prescribed me medications which helped with my urine issues. The medication has helped me in feeling better.
The A&E was a war zone 15 hours waiting ,starting at 1030 am Sunday morning ,reception staff no communication ,security called 3 times to remove a dirty urine stained street lady who had defalcated on seats and returned 3 times to sleep in waiting room ,know one came to clean seats for over an hour ,kept being told next on list not true ,short of doctors .Once seen 130 Mon am ,triaged ,blood clots were discovered no beds, finally in side room 4.30 am once on ward treatment and staff was fantastic ,food and staff fantastic for week ,discharge was told at 1030 am was leaving sent to clover ward at 12 midday waited 5 hours for meds from pharmacy .no lunch ,not good
I was sat in A and E for 14 hours and given no information as to how long I was likely to be there. The information on the board said it would be an 8 hour wait which is bad enough, but to be sat there over night is unacceptable. Apparently there was only one doctor on duty because it was a Sunday- are people not allowed to be I'll on a Sunday evening then???
My arrival at A&E via ambulance had been totally unexpected. I was somewhat overwhelmed. SDEC was calm. Doctor Maddie was superb. My symptoms were taken seriously. Investigations were ordered. I felt reassured of a commitment to discover the cause of the problem and not just deal with the presenting issues. I am grateful for ongoing contact with the team.
HCA Corina and Receptionist Tracy also deserve particular thanks for their kindness and explanations.
I had limited contact with other members of staff.
Though the waiting time was longer than some time ago, the whole process of medical help, in my opinion, is much much better than some years ago. I mean - the two sections of the Emergency department are serving purposes of patients much better, being organised in this way. Also, I would say that the professionalism, skills, prompt decision making and excellent communication manners of the doctors, who treated me were really superb! Also the nurses were absolutely brilliant. I am totally healed. Thank you very much.
All staff very professional and helpful
