Stephen McDonnell was an excellent surgeon and he carried out really stellar work on a very difficult fracture on my knee. My recovery has been excellent and his advice and support over the past 2 years has been invaluable.

Mr McDonnell was reassuringly knowledgeable and detailed in his care throughout my treatment. Pleasant to deal with too. And I’m certainly satisfied with his work on my ACL repair. I understand how things are stretched in the NHS so this is merely comment rather than criticism, it often felt like Mr McDonnell was in a rush to get on to his next task in my follow up appointments. He probably was and that’s fine, just if anything could be done to stop a patient feeling like things were rushed that would be an improvement.

I found him totally professional while being friendly and helpful. Very helpful explaining what the diagnosis meant in terms of future treatment - comparing surgical treatment with a more conservative approach. he had plenty of time to talk me through the surgical option - likely days in hospital and expected time of recovery. I left the initial consultation feeling very confident that I would be in safe hands.
