I wish to convey my sincere thanks and gratitude to Professor Jari for my Mako Robotic Knee Replacement completed on June 30th. From our initial consultation and discussions I felt completely confident that I was in safe and expert hands and that I had chosen the "right man for the job". He listened to my concerns and understood my wish to return to regular exercise. I was offered possible alternatives to the knee replacement surgery, none of which would have given me long term, pain free mobility. He explained my new knee would require patience and dedication to rehabilitation exercises and that I should go easy on the crutches !! I am now driving, enjoying pain free walking and enjoying my pilates and core fitness classes. My days of marathon running may now be over but I am now pain free and able to cycle and swim which replicates the endorphin buzz I was previously missing. Thanks must also go to Stephanie for her behind the scenes administrative efficiency, to the physiotherapy department, the hospital nurses, the porters and the catering teams. Well Done & Thank You Spire Manchester and to "The Knee Doc" - Professor Jari ... an awesome dude. a

I first saw Professor Jari in March 2013. He warned me then that my right knee would need to be replaced at sometime in the future. On that ocassion he performed an arthoscopy to enable me to return to some form of exercise. I saw him on a umber of ocassions in the next ten years when he managed my knee with conservative treatment such as physiotherapy and steroid injections. Eventually, I had to see him again in November 2021 due to the pain in both knees. Following scans it was decided that my right knee would be be replaced. Following a covid scare and a couple of other delays it was eventually replaced on the 29 April 2022. I was walking fully weight bearing with 24 hours, after the pain from the surgery subsided, which was minimal due to the painkilling drugs, I can honestly say that I have not had a moments pain in my right knee. I was back driving at around four weeks! I am now able to fully straighten my knee and have about 140 degree bend in the joint. More than I had before surgery! We then looked at my left knee, which also needed to be replaced. Again the surgery went well, walking within 24 hours and discharged from hospital after two nights. Again I have about 140 degree bend and I am now able to walk long distances without pain whilst I am walking or afterwards. I can not thank Professor Jari enough for giving me my quaility of life back enabling me to exercise and play with my grandchildren pain free. I could not recommend him any higher if you are having problems with your knees.

I should like to express my gratitude to Professor Jari and the Spire Hospital for the great care I received in connection with my Mako robotic total knee replacement. From my first consultation, through the operation process, my stay in this amazing hospital and subsequent physio therapy and consultant appointments I received the best from everyone concerned. I can thoroughly recommend Professor Jari, the Mako procedure and the Spire Hospital to anyone considering a knee replacement. They have given me my life back.

I had suffered for a long time with osteoarthritis and had to cancel holidays due to knee trouble, and life in general became more and more difficult. As I was apprehensive about the prospect of a knee replacement op, I had tried other solutions first - including using leg braces and specific exercise programmes. However, this wasn’t too successful and my everyday life became more and more restricted. I decided to grasp the nettle and go for the knee replacement operation. I arranged an initial consultation with Prof Jari at The Alexandra Hospital, who did a thorough examination of my knee and discussed my history. He explained clearly what the options were – with or without surgery – and what I could expect in the future, including recovery, rehabilitation and post-op care and monitoring. I decided to plump for the Mako Robotic arm-assisted surgery, in view of the potential benefits including greater accuracy and better rehabilitation prospects. My op was carried out in October (2022) and went exactly as outlined by Prof Jari. The care I received at the hospital was first class (both before and after the op) and Prof Jari was on hand to actively control and monitor recovery. I was able to go home 2 days later, and have had regular post-op reviews with Prof Jari until last week, when he was happy to sign me off (whilst at the same time making it clear he’d be happy to hear from me in future about any significant developments). I’m pleased to report that my knee is now coping very well with regular cycling, swimming and some walking – in fact I now regret not having the op sooner. I’m delighted with the outcome, and cannot praise Prof Jari enough for his expertise, clear and comprehensive information and advice, and patient and sympathetic approach.

Having been a patient of Prof Jari for several years I underwent a total knee replacement at the Spire hospital in Manchester August 2022. From the pre op care clinic appointments, surgery and follow up I found Prof Jari, Steph and the team at Spire exemplary. If you adhere to his instructions for post op recovery you will have excellent results. Within 4 months I was back to cycling, walking and swimming pain free.
