I am a 55 year old man who was suffering from advanced OA in both hips for about 4 years. I am otherwise fit and healthy. I had seen various consultants, all of whom had recommended a double hip replacement but using conventional techniques which was an unattractive option for me. I came across Prof Wilson through his work at The Regenerative Clinic. I found him engaging both for his knowledge (he is widely published and obviously a leader in his field) but mostly for his empathy and understanding of my problem. He listened carefully and his responses hit the mark with me for their level of detail and lack of jargon. Prof Wilson clearly understood my concerns and quickly formulated a plan of action. This plan was carried out by specialist surgeons within a couple of months with an exceptional degree of skill and professionalism. Prof Wilson recommended simultaneous bilateral hip replacement using a minimally invasive procedure. He assembled a team of top orthopaedic surgeons from Orthopaedic Specialists (OS) to carry out the procedure. His admin team made all the necessary arrangements for hospital admission, and recommended postoperative care options. Everything went without a hitch. I am now 3 and a half weeks post operative. I walk without the aid of crutches and my pain levels are very low. In fact, I was taking only Ibuprofen within a week of the operation and currently need no pain relief at all. I have no reason to doubt that I will be back to work, sport and a normal lifestyle before long. I believe my future quality of life has been transformed. If you are considering hip surgery consider this. Get the right advice from the right surgeon. Assemble the very best team you can afford (Yes, it’s expensive, but so is a new car - your new hips will last longer and you will enjoy them more). The minimally invasive procedure recommended by Prof Wilson leaves you with small and manageable scars, and appears (in my case at least) to promote a faster initial recovery. Do your prehab and sign up a good physiotherapist for rehab. Hydrotherapy is great, especially just after your operation. I could not have asked for a more skilled or professional team than Prof Wilson and his colleagues at OS. I recommend him without reservation.
