From my first appointment I felt totally at ease and in very safe hands. Professor Malek went beyond what I was expecting in terms of patient care. I was treated as an individual and given all the information I needed. My surgery has been a complete and total success and I am extremely thankful for Professor Malek’s skill. I also found him to be a warm and caring person, and I am positive that this aided my recovery.

Excellent guidance from start to finish. Very clear explanations pre, during and post the operation. Superbly skilled. At 6 weeks I am able to start light running again and spend 30mins on an exercise bike. A most trustworthy surgeon who I feel fortunate to have been able to employ and who I cannot praise highly enough.

Professor Malek has done a great job of installing my new left hip. From the very first consultation I felt listened to as Prof Malek examined me and talked me through the procedure. His manner is always impeccable, asking probing questions of me and then answering my questions with enough detail to ensure I understood what was going to happen and how my recovery would be managed. I don't recall much about the operation six weeks ago but since then I have seen him for follow-up consultations and he has continued to be professional and friendly and helpful and very approachable.

I had a hip replacement at the spire hospital my surgeon was Mr Malak he was amazing within six weeks I was walking on a tread mill no pain and no scarring. He is truly an amazing surgeon and the rest of his team were so kind and caring.

Prof. Ib Malek joined BCUHB at Wrexham Maelor Hospital in January 2018 as Consultant Trauma and orthopaedic surgeon specialising in Lower Limb arthroplasty (Hip and Knee Replacement). He completed his specialist orthopaedic training from Wales training programme. He successfully completed 18 months fellowship at Adelaide, South Australia from Central Adelaide Health Network and prestigious Calvary Wakefield Hospital. His main interests are improving outcome following primary hip and knee arthroplasty, Enhanced Recovery After Surgery, Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery (CAOS) and revision hip and knee Arthroplasty procedures.
