I was a very nervous patient and Mr Malek put me completely at ease. He listened to my concerns and reassured me that I was doing the right thing. He has a lovely, calm nature and I felt like he genuinely cared. He checked on me numerous times after the surgery and during recovery reassured me i was doing well and how I was doing and feeling was normal. The team at the Spire were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for me during my stay. When my other hip needs replacing in a few years I will be going straight back to Mr Malek.

I had my left hip replaced on October 10th at Spire Yale, Wrexham. The operation was performed by the wonderful Professor Malek and his fantastic team. I had been full of terror for a while before the operation , and Mr Malek has been amazing with me. Patient, kind, empathic, reassuring. He explained all the procedure and when the big day came, I was admitted into a lovely, clean and quiet room, where I was looked after by the lovely nurses until it was time for my op. Once in the theatre, I was looked after so well by all the surgical team and my operation was successful. Professor Malek is such a truly super skilled surgeon. I stayed in the hospital for a further 3 days and was cared for so well by all the staff, from the nurses to the delicious food delivered to me, to the kind physios and everyone else. Mr. Malek came to see me each day, and his lovely smile reassured me each time! I’m over 2 weeks post op now, and am managing to do all I’m supposed to do, and it’s great to feel no actual arthritic pain anymore, just some post operative pain, which is understandable. Today, I had the big wound dressing removed and it all looked good, clean, dry and healthy. 3 more days and I can remove the new dressing. I will see Professor Malek again in a few weeks time and will start physio in 2 weeks. So I’m moving forward with an optimism that I certainly haven’t had, for varying reasons, during this difficult year. I also want want to single out Professor Malek’s secretary, Anna Gizzi. This lovely lady has made all my process so much easier. Her communication with me, coupled with so much kindness and understanding, and also going the extra mile for me on one occasion, has made the whole process so so much nicer. In fact, Anna was able to visit me whilst I was in the hospital, as she was there that day, so we finally had the chance to meet. It was like meeting a wonderful friend! So, all in all, I am so happy with the procedure I had, and I honestly couldn’t have wished for a better team to look after me. I feel so fortunate to have had the ‘A Team’. Thank you, all of you, from the bottom of my heart.

Professor Malek was recommended for hip replacement surgery by a neighbor. From the initial consultation through to the final consultation Professor Malek explained exactly what surgery I needed and why. My only concern was that after surgery my legs would be the same length. Professor Malek reassured me that he was confident he could provide this. Surgery went as expected, my stay in the Spire hospital was great, all the staff were amazing. Post operative care was excellent. I would happily recommend Professor Malek.

From the moment my wife sent a late night email to the hospital and got a reply the next day inviting me to make my appointment I finally felt that someone was listening to me . I first met Prof Malek during Covid lockdown , such care was taken during my first appointment , all safety procedures were in place , I had X rays and immediate feedback on those images , it was at that point that I knew I would need a new knee, a full knee replacement. Within 18 months my knee had deteriorated and I went back for another meeting, that was it I was having the replacement done and the relief to know this was amazing . Within 4 weeks I had my date through , the pre operative care was excellent and as I am self employed everything dovetailed around my working day , appointments which meant I didn't have to take time off from my work , appointments were always on time and the Pre operative tests were carried out professionally and clinics were spotless. I arrived for my operation at 12.30 pm and was greeted by happy , pleasant reception staff and taken through to my room . The room was clean and tidy, with en-suite bathroom . Prof Malek and his team visited me and talked me through the operation , and that was it by 4.30 I was back in my room with my replacement knee fitted. I had a really neat incision , and the aftercare I received was excellent .My wife received a personal phone call from Prof Malek to tell her the operation was complete and that all had gone well. By 7.30pm I was standing up on my new knee with the Physiotherapist , I could not believe it , amazing .Prof Malek visited me regularly during my 2 day stay as did the anaesthetist . My physiotherapy continued and I came home 2 days later and managed to walk up the stairs with ease and confidence at home . The most important thing I was told during my stay was take the painkillers and do those exercises' which I did . I cannot recommend Prof Malek and his team highly enough . I am so pleased I made the choice to have the surgery and that this team enabled me to be able to get back to walking in the Lake District after 6 weeks , I cannot thank Prof Malek enough for carrying out the operation such excellent care from start to finish , great job !!

I had a most excellent total hip replacement by Professor Malek 5 weeks ago. I was home after two nights' stay in Spire Yale and was walking round my house and garden and climbing stairs, without any sticks a day later! The minimally invasive surgery has been pain free and with a very neat 8cm incision. A brilliant, wonderfully done hip operation ! I was back to most normal activities within two weeks. I would wholeheartedly recommend Mr Malek for your surgery. In addition to his great skill and experience, he is reassuring, very attentive and communicative, and with a genial and merry disposition which can put you at your ease immediately. I am 100% pleased with my choice of orthopaedic surgeon and hospital.
