I have experienced faecal incontinence for a long time but it has got much worse ( and more embarrassing ) over the last couple of years. Life has to be planned around being within a couple of minutes from the nearest loo . I was advised by my GP that waiting lists to see a specialist under NHS are over 18 months so decided to pay to see a consultant. When I looked for a local consultant, I was astonished and delighted to see a woman Colorectal specialist. I had a previous bad experience with a male doctor who was both arrogant, patronising and quite rough in examining me. Mrs Craig's website was encouraging and friendly and meeting her was a pleasure. She listened to me and made it easy to discuss my problem, rather than embarrassing. She was clear and reassuring about what the issues are, how she could help me and how I can help myself . She also has warmth and a sense of humour.

Mrs, Craig, took care off me really well and fixed my anal fistula which was really bothersome and painful. I had been to see another specialist previously, who told me that there's not much he can do for me. However, when I went to see Mrs Craig, she explained it detail, exactly how my fistula could be fixed using a seton that will need to be changed every 6 months or so, until it comes out. That it would take time and effort on my part too, but definitely worth while. This lady is a fabulous Surgeon who knows her stuff, is a real specialist in her field, is perfectly approachable and will take great care of her patients as she did for me.

In January my husband was seen by Christine Craig and received his initial cancer diagnosis. The tests and treatments that followed were speedy. Feedback clear and delivered as soon as possible. Christine and the team at Trafford general were amazing. He is now on the final week on a 5 week course of radiotherapy snd oral chemo at Christies.

She looked at my Individual circumstance and adapted the procedure to meet my needs I have to say that while I believe individualised care should be the norm, this was my first experience of it. She was clear, pragmatic. Her actions demonstrated compassionate understanding.

Mrs Christine Craig is the nicest most kindly real consultant I have ever had the pleasure meeting. This lovely lady made me feel totally comfortable and relaxed. The examination was gentle and caring, and the operation I have to have was explained thoroughly. Thank you for the great advice about water and Linseeds
