I had been hesitating about making an appointment regarding longstanding painful and constantly bleeding haemorrhoids as previous experiences had been unpleasant. It got to the point where my quality of life was being severely impacted so I decided to try and find a consultant with excellent reviews for approachability and listening to patients. I was anxious before the appointment but I soon relaxed as Mrs Craig talked openly and honestly, acknowledging the embarrassment some of us feel. Examination was quick but thorough and I again felt relaxed. The options available were explained clearly and I was able to ask for sedation without feeling I was making a fuss. I attended as a day patient for flexible sigmoidoscopy, ligation and biopsy. Everything was well managed on the day, even the enema! I was given a clear explanation of what I might experience afterwards, which helped a great deal in in managing recovery. I am very happy with the results. It is also reassuring to know that their is someone I trust to return to if I have any further problems. Mrs Craig's excellent professional skills are combined with a warm personality, empathy and great ability to listen. I would not hesitate to recommend her.

Great/What I like: - the doctor listened very carefully; asked questions; and tracked back to a previous history in detail to get a full picture of the current problem I was seeing her about. (Although we had never met, I had been seen by a member of her team concerning another related health matter a few years ago. I specifically requested a second opinion from this doctor because of that previous experience. This doctor was the named person at the top of the correspondence during that time) - very transparent honest discussion of the problem, what treatment procedures are possible and possible outcomes. - listened to my anxieties re the consequences of procedures - took the necessary time and frankness to go over everything I am currently experiencing with this health issue eg questions such as 'has it affected my sexlife?' - Clear explanation of the surgical procedure that may be necessary and its complications including drawing a simple diagram. Demystifying the medical intricacies as far as possible - being treated with mutual respect - overall this doctor gave relief to my anxieties which had affected my mental well-being. (Previous consultations with other personnel had been brief and without much discussion/explanation for me to make informed decisions) Thanks

She looked at my piles in a sensitive and caring manner, and then took them away and told me how to keep them away forever
