My right hip was severely damaged due to 10-years suffering from Ankylosing Spondilitis. Thus, I was referred to Mr. Zameer Shah by my Rheumatology doctor for a hip replacement. I had a very successful operation in May 2019 when I was 37 and the recovery went very well and speedily. I managed to get off the bed 4 hours after the operation and was able to go home the next afternoon. I only used pain killers in the second week after the operation at night to help with sleep. The first landmark was to say goodbye to my walking stick in July by following the Physio expert’s advice. Following that, more excitement took place: I started 2km jogging in September, Yoga in October and 5 km jogging in November. I feel very happy and healthy both physically and mentally. Really a big thank you to Mr. Shah.

Dr Zameer Shah has transformed my life, he did a hip replacement on myself a year ago, which I was so happy because I am a young person for a hip replacement at only 47. He and the team in Guy's hospital gave above and beyond care, from the first appointment with Dr Zameer Shah he listened to everything i had to say and cared about me even at my age. I had suffered with pain for years and everyone else told me i was too young for hip replacement, so thank you Dr Zameer Shah and his team, care through to my operation and he explained everything he was going to do, what to expect the same day in recovery so i was fully prepared, the nurses who looked after me in the ward was superb too.

Mr Shah was very accessible explaining carefully and fully what was going to happen in the operation and also afterwards when I was recovering in hospital. He was straightforward, clear minded and practical giving me complete confidence, especially in the light of the COVID 19 pandemic. I believe I was the last patient to be operated on prior to the lockdown. He headed an impressive team of physiotherapists and nurses and they were a credit to Guy’s hospital.

Mr Shah was an excellent consultant with his team at Guys Hospital. He provided wonderful care before and after the operation for a full knee replacement with all its additional complications as I am 69 years old and suffer from Parkinsons and am on a continual drug infusion. I have made a full recovery and his embroidery is exquisite.
