Mr Shah has been my Orthopaedic Consultant over the last few years I have found him to be an excellent surgeon and a very patient medical practitioner. He replaced my right hip after I fell in the street and was taken to St Thomas’. I recovered well and was back at work 2 weeks after the operation, a testimonial to the Mr Shah’s surgeons’ skills. He then reviewed my progress over several years, I had broken the left hip about 7 years previously and it had been pinned. This worked well for a while but resulted in extensive arthritis in the hip, Mr Shah said a replacement was inevitable. But I wanted to continue as long as I could, and he supported me in that decision. In the interim I broke my leg and damaged nerves to the foot, but I continued to attend clinic every year to check the condition of my hip and last year I decided along with Mr Shah that a hip replacement was now needed, due to pain and a reduction in my mobility. Last July Mr Shah replaced my left hip at Guy’s, not as straightforward as my first replacement, really 3 operations in one. It has taken a little longer to gain mobility and I am still undertaking hydrotherapy and attend an Osteopath, but I have little or no pain and my movement is excellent with this support. I would recommend Mr Shah and his team, excellent orthopaedic surgeons who really do care about getting the very best results their patients. This includes the follow up and aftercare.

Dr Shah has replaced both of my hips. On both occasions I trusted him implicitly. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He used the latest techniques which I am certain reduced my recovery and healing time by a considerable amount.

I first saw Mr Zameer Shah in November 2016, having been transferred to him as a patient from the care of Mr David Nunn who was previously my consultant for 17 years. I presented him with a very complicated and complex left hip condition for which, over my life time I had received many surgical procedures. At that point the current hip replacement was incredibly loose and causing me the most excruciating and debilitating pain. My left leg was considerably shorter than the right which was putting a huge amount of strain on my lower back as well as on my right hip which was replaced in 2014. During this first consultation, I had x-rays taken, following this MRI's and CT scans were done. At the follow up appointment and in discussion with Mr Shah it was deemed that the exceptionally poor bone structure, that I had remaining, would most likely not be suitable for another replacement. Mr Shah suggested that I have a 3D bespoke model made to fit the remaining area of my Acetabulum with a Bio-Ball. Throughout the time it took to make this and arrange a surgery date, Mr Shah was polite, caring, and supportive, a personable consultant. He explained what the new hip would be like, how it would work for me and listened to my fears, concerns and with a sensitive approach in his answers, made me feel more relaxed and confident with the impending surgery. 5th July 2017, surgery day. The morning of the operation, Mr Shah and his team came to see me, asked how I was feeling and to re assure me that he would do everything possible to make this exciting and new hip a success and that he would take care of me. As I had been down this road many times before, I was still very apprehensive due to my life long problem with this hip. The road to recovery from this surgery has been long, stressful and very difficult, not only due to the surgery itself, but also because of the lack of muscle support around the hip area due to years of muscle atrophy and wastage. It is coming up to my 3 years anniversary since this surgery and Mr Shah has done an amazing job, at the time of the operation he was able to lengthen the left leg sufficiently enough so that I would not need to wear a raised up shoe anymore which improved my self-esteem and confidence. Although I am not pain free, it is less and much more manageable. The hip is stable and I feel that with continuing time, it will improve further. Any patient requiring orthopedic surgery and support, Mr Zameer Shah is the surgeon to have in your corner. As it was not possible for me to have my 6 monthly check up in London and x-rays this month due to the current covid-19 situation, I had a telephone consultation and conversation with Mr Shah last Friday 22nd May. Personally, I found this completely useful and beneficial, Mr Shah took the time to ask how things were progressing, to the best of his ability, without seeing me, answered my concerns and queries, I did not feel rushed or that he was not interested in what I had to say. He explained that he would see me at the hospital in 3 months times with further up to date x-rays. Thank you very much Mr Shah for everything.
