Mr Townley is an outstanding surgeon who through his immense skill saved me from severe facial palsy. From the moment I met him in very distressing circumstances he made me feel safe and in very good hands. He is calm, diligent, understanding and incredibly talented. Everything about the whole experience was high quality, including the hospital care, the administration and organization, the after care and recommended physiotherapy, and Mr Townley's availability if I needed reassurance by email or phone.

I had a very positive experience with Mr Townley. His thoughtful, skilful approach with an emphasis on listening gave me confidence in the reconstruction surgery that I had in April 2016. He also made the time to discuss in detail the proposed surgery with Lucy, my wife, which was important for both of us. I think innovation and creativity is a core competence for Mr Townley and this made a big difference in my treatment. To illustrate, I originally had anticipated that the procedure consisted only of a cross facial nerve graft. The best treatment route for me however involved two further procedures - a static cheek sling and a nerve to masseter exercise – both of which he explained clearly. The end results of my treatment will not be apparent for some time as the nerves have to regenerate and I need to do some physio with a specialist neurological physiotherapist. That said, the static cheek sling has had a more immediate pay-off. I believe Mr Townley is building a world class plastic surgery practice and, based on my experience with reconstructive surgery, I would recommend him strongly.

The experience I had with Mr Townley has been very positive. He gave me confidence at the initial consultation phase and I was reassured by the measured, thoughtful and solutions-oriented approach that he takes. The quality that stood out for me most is his ability to think critically and innovate. To illustrate, I initially discussed with him only a cross-facial nerve graft. In addition to this procedure he saw that the best outcome for me would also require a static sling and nerve-to-masseter procedure. I think the combination of these procedures will make a big difference for me in both the short and long term.
