I'm so glad that Mr Minas was my consultant. He took the time to respond to my initial enquiry immediately and in person, and has been so thorough in the investigation and diagnosis of my tests. Nothing has been too much trouble. Luckily I don't need an operation but should I have needed one, I know that I would have been in the very best hands. Thank you so much. I would highly recommend this excellent and empathetic specialist.

Dr. Minas listened to my problems attentively, understood those, provided different solutions, explained those in details, and carried out the chosen option most efficiently and professionally. I am very much grateful the way he tackled my concerns which gave me necessary confidence to go for the required surgery.

Since the age of 13/14yrs old I had always suffered terribly with period pains. Eventually I was put on a pill where you take back to back and therefore did not have period and I found this really helped me. Fast Forward until I was 32years old and just married and wanted to start a family. I came off the pill and the periods came back with a vengeance! I also started to discover pain on my left side which felt like a constant stitch! My GP sent me off to have an ultrasound and some bloods. The ultrasound came back with a lump on my left ovary and bloods levels were high and at first, they wasn’t too sure if it was ovarian cancer. I was referred to Mr Minas at St Peters under the CEMIG and he requested an MRI and said to me that it wasn’t cancer but was in fact Endometriosis stage IV and also suspected Adenomyosis, he recommended total Hysterectomy. I explained that I wanted to try for a baby, and he listened to me and explained all the possibly options that I could do. He also referred me to Fertility clinic where I had tests done and found out that my FSH levels were low, and I had premature Ovarian aging. I was still under Mr Minas, and I had another appointment to give him my decision on what I wanted to do next as I was still suffering terribly with period pains. I explained that I wanted to go ahead with the Hysterectomy, he made sure that this was something that I wanted to do and advised that this would be the best thing for me. Whilst I was waiting for my operation date, I still had appointments with Mr Minas as I had questions, and he was brilliant he allowed me to have appointments with him to discuss the questions I had. This all happened during and after covid and as I am hard of hearing and lip read, he was brilliant with me and allowed me to have Face to Face appointments with him so that I could understand what was going on and what they had planned for surgery. I had my surgery on 25th July 2023 – where it was confirmed that I did have Endometriosis stage IV and that I also had Adenomyosis along with chocolate cysts on both ovaries and pretty much everything was stuck together which the called ‘Frozen Pelvis’. But it is by far the best thing that has ever happened to me even thought I am now in menopause there is nothing I wouldn’t change about the Hysterectomy. It is amazing how great I feel now and made me realise how I had just got used to living with pain. I had my procedure done at Ashford hospital where the nurses were very caring and kind and nothing was too much for them. Even before my procedure I had a little wobble and wasn’t sure if this was the right thing to do and after speaking with Mr Minas (who didn’t put any pressure on me) just reminded me of how much I was suffering and for how long and that he can make the pain go away. I really felt cared for and that I was the only patient in the world and even with my wobble he understood and cared. I honestly cannot recommend this amazing consultant enough. He truly has changed my life for the better and I am forever grateful for him. Kirsteen Collins

Duribg my first appointment Mr Minas listened to my symptoms and reviewed the evidence I presented. He carried out diagnostic testing which enabled a discussion about treatment options and planning of next steps. The agreed procedure was carried out within 3 weeks. On the day Mr Minas saw me before the operation to confirm what he was planning to do and afterwards to tell me what happened. I received his post op report before I left the hospital 2 hours later. During the follow-up appointment Mr Minas again listened to me and, through discussion, we decided on a post sign off plan. Overall he was friendly, professional, efficient and reassuring: he did what he said he was going to and when he said he would do it.

I booked my first appointment with Mr Minas based on his qualifications, experience, and patient reviews, and I can say with certainty that Mr Minas is an extremely professional and knowledgeable doctor. The most important part was that Mr Minas not only actually attended to my symptoms but also listened to my story and my concerns and kindly explained each point and answered all my questions. He gave me clear guidane on all treatment options, their pros and cons and allowed me to choose the best option for me. He was always quick to respond to my messages and always happy to answer any additional questions I had. It took me some time to make a decision to have the subtotal laparoscopic hysterectomy and as it was one of the hardest decision in my life I am extremely grateful for his support, understanding and patience before the surgery. He is a very trustworthy person and he is excellent in his expertise. Being his patient, I had the impression that we were a team and we were working together for the betterment of my health. His talent and caring manner is a credit to the medical profession, and having such a skilful doctor was the best part of this entire process. Thank you once again for taking care of me!
