Dr Patel is an excellent doctor, last week he removed my apendix and I felt totally safe in his care. He explained to me very clearly what the problem with my apendix was and made me feel at ease about the upcoming operation.
He came to see me the following day to explain how the procedure had gone and talked me through the aftercare process. I am very grateful for all his hard work.

Mr Patel has been exceptional throughout my treatment. He explains treatments and procedures very simply and answers my questions along the way. Meaning you are prepared so there are no surprises.

I find it impossible to say how pleased I was with my recent experience. I came is as an emergency and Mr Patel was kind, caring and welcoming. He explained what was going to happen and I was operated on a couple of hours later. He later explained what the procedure was in an easy to understand way and was very reassuring. It was a pleasure t see him when he was 'doing his rounds' and I felt reassured each time.

My clinical interests are in minimally invasive (robotic and laparoscopic) surgery for colorectal cancer and benign conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and diverticulosis. I also specialise in treatments for perianal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fistula and anal fissure, as well as general surgical conditions such as hernia.
I graduated from St George’s University of London in 2000. I completed my specialist surgical training in the North West London Deanery. This was followed by two fellowships at St Mark’s Hospital London and the London Colorectal Fellowship (Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and University College Hospital).
In addition to my clinical work, I have wide research interests which have been established through my MSc in surgical science and a PhD both attained from Imperial College London. My research focuses on collaboration, leadership and mentoring in healthcare, which has culminated in numerous peer-reviewed publications in a broad range of surgical disciplines and international and national conference presentations.
I currently work as a consultant colorectal and general surgeon at Watford General Hospital and Spire Bushey Hospital.
