Mr Patel is an incredibly talented surgeon, with an incredible team. Without their talents & support I would be looking at a very different future to the one I have now. I have a future because of the successful surgery. Mr Patel has been honest and spoken in a way that I have totally understood everything, the procedures, the healing time & ultimately a future after recovery. Also very supportive to my Daughter which made this part of the journey much easier for her to deal with to. An incredibly forward thinking, talented surgeon whom I trust completety and will be grateful for giving me my life back. Thank you.

I visited Mr Patel with some concerns following previous bowel surgery. He was friendly and understanding. He suggested some tests and as I had a holiday booked he organised for my results to be sent to him urgently. Thankfully all was ok and I was reassured by my visits to him. Would definitely choose him again if needed and would highly recommend.

I wish to thank both Mr Patel and all the nursing staff at WGH for the excellent speed and efficiency in which my diagnosis, treatment and aftercare were conducted. I have nothing but praise for the efficient, caring, supportive and responsible manner in which I was taken through the whole process. I will be forever grateful. Regards. Nick Sharpe

Being diagnosed with Bowel Cancer last year was an almighty shock to myself and my wife Lucille. After a series of hospital appointments, blood tests, and several meetings with lovely and caring nurses, we met Mr Patel who was to carry out the keyhole surgery. He was both friendly and reassuring. He explained in great detail what the whole procedure would entail. Both Lucille and I were very much heartened. After the totally painless surgery, Mr Patel phoned my wife to tell her that all was well, and she could visit me in hospital. I spent five days in the hospital ward. Mr Patel came to see me every day until he decided it was safe for me to go home. I have nothing but praise for both him and the wonderful nurses in the ward. Thank you, sir, and also thanks to your team Our good wishes to all of you from myself and Lucille Leslie Schofield.

Profile

Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon,
Honorary Clinical Research Fellow Imperial College London,
MB BS, MSc, PhD DIC, FRCS (Gen Surg).

My clinical interests are in minimally invasive (robotic and laparoscopic) surgery for colorectal cancer and benign conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and diverticulosis. I also specialise in treatments for perianal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fistula and anal fissure, as well as general surgical conditions such as hernia.

I graduated from St George’s University of London in 2000. I completed my specialist surgical training in the North West London Deanery. This was followed by two fellowships at St Mark’s Hospital London and the London Colorectal Fellowship (Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and University College Hospital).

In addition to my clinical work, I have wide research interests which have been established through my MSc in surgical science and a PhD both attained from Imperial College London. My research focuses on collaboration, leadership and mentoring in healthcare, which has culminated in numerous peer-reviewed publications in a broad range of surgical disciplines and international and national conference presentations.

I currently work as a consultant colorectal and general surgeon at Watford General Hospital and Spire Bushey Hospital.
