I have the utmost respect, and gratitude for the expertise, determination and prodigious talent of Mr Satyadas. Not only did he devise a plan to deliver a laparoscopic cholecystectomy in complicated circumstances shortly following a quintuple coronary artery bypass, but he also adapted that approach to meet the increased complexities of a situation made yet more challenging by sepsis and an urgent need to operate. Throughout all of this my family and I were in constant contact with Mr Satyadas to provide updates on my condition, and we cannot thank him enough for taking time out of his busy schedule to support us. I know for a fact that other surgeons would barely contemplate undertaking the procedure in these circumstances through open surgery, let alone conceive that it could be done laparoscopically. The persistence and determination shown by Mr Satyadas to ensure that that the procedure took place as scheduled, despite the grave reservations of so many around him, were equally impressive. His dedication to his work, and to the well-being of his patients, is unsurpassed. Following the successful procedure, Mr Satyadas kindly offered to show us a recording of the surgery. This may not be to everyone’s taste, but it gave us a unique opportunity to see the exceptional skills of Mr Satyadas, accompanied by a detailed – yet modest – commentary on how he had navigated the complexities of the challenge and delivered the promised outcome. The surgery delivered by Mr Satyadas has been life-changing, and to experience first-hand the exceptional care and unsurpassed skill of this remarkable man has been life-enhancing. With deepest gratitude Professor Andrew Cooper

What a fantastic surgeon I have had 2 previous hernia repairs and was diagnosed with bilateral inguinal hernia. Dr Satyadas was very thorough and explained everything including the risks involved. I was admitted for surgery and he came to my room put me at ease, explained everything and also said he would call my wife to let her know how surgery went. After coming round i was amazed at how neat the job was with keyhole surgery and within 2 weeks im feeling great. After 2 previous operations i was convinced id have to have open surgery but this man worked miracles!Very pleased with the operation and the great care from all the ward staff and theatre staff.

Had a bilateral inguinal hernia repair. Mr Satyadas was direct and easy to understand. The procedure was a resounding success despite the fix being bigger than expected once the procedure was underway. 14 days later I'm walking around with minor discomfort but no difficulty and 3 tiny scars which will probably fade completely. Never doubted I was in the safe pair of hands of an expert. I also dare say on followup as he assessed the tiny scars no small about of pride in his excellent handiwork.

Mr Satyadas first operated on me in March 2021 at the Alexandra Hospital when I was 84. I was admitted for laparoscopic removal of my gallbladder which went very well. The pathology report however came back positive for gall bladder cancer and Mr Satyadas suggested I should be considered for a liver resection due to the stage of the cancer. This was a much more serious and longer surgery and I was quite nervous about undergoing this given my age, I was now 85. I was reassured however as he told me he would only operate based on various tests to ensure I was fit enough and to minimise risk it it would be a laparoscopic liver resection. As in his previous consultations he had a really calming manner, didn't rush any appointment and explained everything very clearly which gave me a lot of confidence. The test results suggested my heart would cope with the surgery, he prepared me well in the 2-3 weeks leading up to the surgery by prescribing exercises and advised on pre-operative food and fluid intake. He carried out a successful liver resection in April 2021. I was well on the road to recovery when in August 2021, unexpectedly and with no connection to the gall bladder or liver operations, I was admitted as an emergency to Manchester Royal Infirmary with severe abdominal pain which was diagnosed as a bowel obstruction. Mr Satyadas was on call that night and told my family I had a 50% chance of survival, and given the urgency he would have to perform open surgery, a procedure he had previously avoided given my age but if I didn't have the surgery I would not survive. In addition there had been no time to prepare me and I was still recovering from the liver surgery. It is a testament to the surgical skills of Mr Satyadas that the surgery was a success. Now one year on and 86 years I can say to anyone of my age given what I have been through, they should have 100% confidence that they will have a great outcome with Mr Satyadas as their surgeon.
