Mr Srinivasan said I was too heavy to have a hip replacement. During my consultation he was on the phone trying to arrange another patients appointment. He never ever examined me. I was so upset that I asked to be referred to another hospital, the Nottingham City. As the Queen's death meant my appointment was cancelled I paid for a private assessment by Mr Hahn at the Park Hospital as he had previously operated to replace my knee and I trust his judgement. Mr Hahn couldn't understand why I was told that I was too heavy. He said that whilst it is tue that I am carrying too much weight none of it is on my hips and there was no reason to not operate. Mr Hahn examined me and referred me to a colleague at the City Hospital, Mr Mattar, who agreed that there was no reason to not operate. I was referred to The Park hospital by Mr Mattar, under the NHS system. Mr Mattar operated and replaced my hip very successfully. So I am sorry but I am not impressed by Mr Srinivasan. Also when he discharged me to my GP there were several mistakes in his letter.

After being fobbed off by GPs for years I insisted on seeing a consultant. I had an X-ray the day after seeing the GP, and the following day I was invited to see Mr. Srinivasan in days rather than weeks. During the consultation Mr. Srinivasan made it clear that he wanted to perform total hip replacement as a matter of urgency. From the GP appointment to the day of surgery was 29 days! I spent 36 hours in hospital, where the staff were second to none. To be completely free of that grinding hip pain has given me a second lease on life. I'm at a complete loss as to how to express my appreciation for that.

This surgeon could not have been more helpful. As I had a teenage grandson visiting for the weekend I was desperate to be home asap so Mr Srinivasan persuaded theatre staff to fit me in for surgery under local anaesthetic that evening, avoiding a costly stay in a ward. He is professional but very approachable & sympathetic, and did a great job wiring & stitching my thumb. I couldn't have got a better service. Thank you.
