If only all doctors were like Simon Monkhouse - he is obviously extremely competent and very skilled in his chosen field but also has a fantastic bedside manner - he explains everything very simply so that you understand exactly what your problem is and exactly how it will be dealt with - even drawing pictures to help you understand. He is very easy to talk to and makes you feel at ease - he answers any questions with patience. After the operation, he telephoned me at home to check on my recovery and to see if I had any further questions or concerns - remarkable - he is a credit to the profession.

Following a painfull abdominal attack due to a gall bladder problem.I was finally refereed to Mr Monkhouse for surgery.However what was supposed to be a straight forward day surgery case turned into something much more serious which resulted in my two week stay in hospital.During my stay Dr Monkhouse made daily visits to my bedside advising me of the results of my operation and his advice on how we should proceed with my recovery.His daily visits offering reassurance and support were invaluable to me as having never experienced along term stay in hospital all I wanted to do was go home.Fortunatley Mr Monkhouse was steadfast in his belief that I should continue my treatment and several days later I left hospital both relieved and grateful for his care and attention.I feel very fortunate to have been treated by Mr Monkhouse and will be continually grateful to him.

I visited Mr Monkhouse yesterday for a follow up appointment following surgery for an inguinal hernia on 31st January. In the mean time I had developed another hernia and was somewhat concerned as to how this would be dealt with. Mr Monkhouse, who has an excellent manner put me totally at ease and made sure I was fully informed as to how this would be dealt with. I was given the option of having Mr Monkhouse carry out the procedure or just taking the available surgeon. I had no hesitation in asking him to do the operation for me. This is the third time that I have met Mr Monkhouse and he has always been very attentive and easy to talk to.

I was beyond impressed with my experience with Doctor Monkhouse. My first contact with Dr Monkhouse, i was completely blown away by how helpful and kind he was and how fast he was at getting back to me! A lot of doctors don’t realize how important it is to have administration like Dr Monkhouse. The first point of contact is crucial! I truly appreciated his approach of treating me as a whole, not a collection of potential disparate problems. He seems to be able to manage his time in such a way that he gives himself time to think and focus on me as his patient – no hurried review of my file.
