I found that when the NHS failed to advise me of a date for my operation, Mr Simon Cawthorn took a personal interest in my case, and arranged for my operation to take place at the Spire hospital in Bristol. You would not normally expect to deal with your surgeon direct ( rather through his secretary) however I believe Mr Cawthorn understood the teething problems that the new Southmead hospital was experiencing and made it his business to ensure my surgery was arranged. On the day of the operation he explained all aspects of the surgery very clearly, and was still there late in the evening to see how I was and give further advice. Once again, when a further follow up failed to materialise, Mr Cawthorn phoned up out of the blue to ask if an appointment had been set, and when advised that I had not, proceeded to arrange it himself. Today's follow up was swift, uncomplicated, and despite having to drain some fluid only took about 15 minutes after which I was able to return to work. He left me with an open appointment should I suffer any adverse reaction later down the line. I would like to thank him for a very professional job .
