Following an initial examination by Mr Sher Aslam, I had a very clear discussion about the options and risks and agreed to have a Vitrectomy ( epiretinal membrane) on on my left eye. On arrival I was fully briefed again about what was going to happen and the risks. Following the operation I was briefed about what to expect over the next few days and weeks and was able to return home vey promptly. Five days later Mr Aslam re-examined my eye and to my surprise I was able to drive myself home. I have been amazed at the success of this operation, which has enabled me to restart my very active life style, which has been on hold for over 12 months All the way through I have had the utmost satisfaction with the way I have been looked after and been kept informed by Mr Aslam to whom I am most grateful for both his consummate professionalism and his engaging personality which has made this experience a pleasure

My mother had been diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy and as her vision had deteriorated very quickly. We were recommended the services of Sher Aslam through a friend of mine who specializes in laser surgery as we wanted a second opinion. From the very first consultation we were put at ease by Mr Aslam. He was very articulate, patient, and sympathetic. We were repeatedly asked if we had any more questions and were never rushed out of an appointment. Mr Aslam performed surgery on my mothers’ eye and she has experienced a considerable improvement in her vision. This has led to her having a better quality of life. Mr Aslam has recently repaired a Macular hole in both of my eyes. His expertise, skill and kind consideration helped me through a vey worrying time and I am so pleased to report that both holes have healed, When your eyesight suddenly and rapidly deteriorates it is very frightening and I was quite traumatised by the diagnosis I I recieved when I attended the John Radcliffe eye Hospital A&E. However on speaking to Mr Aslam's secretary Rahima who reassured with with kindness that I was 'now in safe hands' this not only comforted me but certainly proved to be true. Rahima also quickly responded to any of my questions and concerns throughout. My Aslam's professional care was supported by a great operative team and I can whole heartedly assure anyone going through a similar experience that they can be confident of excellent , skilled professional care.

Mr Aslam took me at short notice for cataract surgery after coping with failing eyesight for months in Saudi Arabia where I work in teaching. Right eye, a trip to NZ, left eye, back to work. The whole experience was exceptional in every respect. Explanations, reassurances, surgery and follow up. Colleagues ask me where I had the surgery done. Nuffield, Oxford. They say it must have been good. I say it was excellent, and once is enough. A great success Patrick Walker
