My mum was diagnosed with rectal cancer in August last year. It was the typical nightmare for any surgeon. A technically difficult major procedure because of how low the cancer was and the fact that the patient is the mother of a colleague. I didn't know Mr Wijeyekoon personally but everyone I asked spoke very highly of him both as a surgeon and as a person. He took it upon himself to arrange for everything like it was his own mother, from hospital appointments to scans to MDT meetings to pre-op assessments etc. My mum is a very sensitive person and it is always difficult to treat a colleague or a colleague's family member but Mr Wijeyekoon struck this balance perfectly. Follow up was perfect, passed by her everyday in hospital after the operation and arranged to see her regularly after discharge. Four months down the line and after 2 major procedures my mum is cancer free and recovering very well thanks to Mr Wijeyekoon.

I feel very fortunate to have had my double hernia repair done by Mr. Wijeyekoon; he is a credit to his profession, also such a kind, understanding and patient man--nothing is too much trouble. He was always available to answer any worries that I had. If I ever need any surgical procedure in the future I would not hesitate to being referred to him again; non better.

I feel very fortunate to have been treated by Mr Wijeyekoon. One has a certain fear of colonoscopies and what they might reveal, but Mr W took so much time and trouble to explain what would happen and possible outcomes. My procedure was not straight forward but I was so grateful for the skill and professionalism I received. By a strange coincidence my husband also needed a referral to this specialism and was delighted to be able to consult Mr Wijeyekoon also. So if you like total expertise with a sense of humour and a caring manner, look no further!

I have had the good fortune to have been treated by this doctor and can only say he is an asset to the Nhs. I would like to add that i have never meet a doctor that has been as dedicated as this doctor. I can only hope if i am sick i can meet him again or another doctor who cares and treats his patients with the care he has treated me.
