I was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital as an emergency with a Caecal Volvulus. I feel extremely lucky to have had Mr Purkayastha as my surgeon. As soon as I met him in A&E I felt safe. He is so easy to talk to and a great listener. He came to see me a couple of times before I went into the operating theatre to explain things which was reassuring. Mr Purkayastha is a very kind man and very professional. He is evidently a surgeon at the top of his game. I can't thank him and his team enough.

I met Mr. Purkayastha in an emergency and extremely stressful situation. Immediately I felt in very kind and capable hands. Throughout the entire process of my emergency appendectomy surgery and my stay in the hospital, I was treated with kindness and professionalism. His concern was not only for my physical health but also how I was feeling emotionally given that it was a very quick diagnosis and need to operate quickly. His surgical staff and administrative personnel are as professional and attentive as he is. I could not fault my experience at all!

I have had a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy Surgery done by Mr Sanjay Purkayastha. Although many can be academically suitable, for me it is very important to feel comfortable and confident with the specialist I am putting all my trust in. I am so pleased to say my experiences with Mr Sanjay Purkayastha have portrayed all of the above, he is extremely commited to his patients aswell as the skills and service he offers. His vast knowledge and passion for his work is evident when speaking to him. He is professional, efficient and thorough yet down to earth and reassuring. I am truly so grateful to him, this surgery he did for me has completely changed my life. Not only have I been able to achieve weight loss beyond my expectations with the amazing work from Mr Purkayastha and all sectors of his team, but I am now also a mum to a healthy little baby boy and achieved a very healthy pregnancy throughout. I would highly recommend Mr Sanjay Purkayastha as a consultant surgeon to anyone in need of his specialities.

Please pass on this message to Mr Purkyashtha Mr Purkayastha has been truly amazing from the start of my journey to batiatric surgery. I’ve been suffering for a long while with pain and other symptoms like chronic fatigue, which have lead me to struggle while doing simple day to day tasks. My children were struggling too each time they saw me in pain and having difficulty to eat. Mr Purkyastha has put in his all his efforts in order to give me a definitive diagnosis and has explored all possible options to help with my gastric issues. He has done everything he could and found the best solution for me, and I am delighted that it’s nearing to the end of my pain. I’m really grateful for everything he has done, he’s given me hope, as well as a chance at living a normal life with my children!! Words cannot express how grateful I am for all the effort, time and work that he has put it in to help make me better. It’s been a testing time during the pandemic but he has still managed to help people like me aswell as help in the ICU to treat COVID patients. I honestly felt like there was no hope in getting better due to the pandemic taking over everything. However, he has remained dedicated and treats his patients with the utmost respect and understanding. It’s a pleasure to have been treated by such an incredible surgeon. Thank you, from my children and I!! Somia A

This was a second opinion for me as I had a bypass in Surrey and had pain on eating and severe nausea, I had been passed to St Marys as my local hospital had run out of options, my 1st appointment at St Marys the consultant took an interest and I really felt he was going to help me, he was thorough very caring and I felt like he wanted to help me get better, after numerous tests he had asked for it was noted I had 2 hernias and possible candy cane, the only thing left to do was go into the stomach and have a look this was done very quickly and I am so glad I did he found and repaired the hernias, my new stomach had shifted up and I had few nip and tucks of the original bypass, he was sure I would feel better and after being discharged the next day he then called me to check I was OK which I am the stomach ache and nausea have both gone I am no longer on anti sickness drugs. I cant thank him enough this surgery has given me my relieve of daily pain and constant sickness, bariatric surgery is vital and it gives people their live back, I live with severe Fibrolamgia and ME and the tummy pain and sickness ontop of my other elements was a lot to deal with, so I am greatful to him for taking time and listening to me 100%
