I apologise for not having reviewed Dr Sanjay Mantray sooner as I had my surgery in September 2022. I first visited Dr Mantray around March 2022 after visiting another laser eye clinic who I felt absolutely bombarded me with trying to sell the procedure which completely put me off, as well as this, if I had booked the procedure with said company I wouldn't have met the surgeon until the day of surgery! Totally different to Ross Hall with Dr Mantray, when I visited him in March he was honest and polite and made me feel completely at ease. He told me he would not be willing to perform surgery as my prescription had changed a lot in a short period and he wanted it to be stable. I revisited in September and went ahead with surgery. I am 30 years old (29 at time of surgery) my vision was around -4.00 each eye, from memory. Lasik went extremely well I have had absolutely no issues, no glares, no halos, no trouble when driving at night and my vision is sharp. My only experience was dry eyes which lasted around 1 month. Fantastic surgeon I have recommended him to others.

I had 2 cataract procedures performed by Mr Mantry. I chose the Vivity lens which costs £4000 per eye. Mr Mantry said, “ You’ll see your golf ball fly through the air!” I was delighted! The procedures were not successful. Certainly, my near vision is better…….not my reason for choosing that lens, however. My distance vision is not improved at all……..the reason for choosing that particular lens. I told Mr Mantry how upset I was. That was a lot of money to spend and still not see my golf ball! He was quite dismissive of me and didn’t seem to understand why I was upset. His manner was confrontational. However, he offered a second opinion which I had today. Today’s surgeon had a totally different manner…….kind and caring. He helped me to feel more pragmatic about the result and clearly understood how I was feeling. The result is I’ll have to wear glasses for golf and some other activities. Certainly not what I wanted but nothing is 100% certain. If Mr Mantry’s manner had been more akin to the manner of the surgeon I saw today I would have been better able to accept what’s happened much sooner and been spared some of the upset I’ve felt.

I have just had my first cataract operation and I was terrified. However I cannot believe how wonderful the staff were and mr mantryhimself were. There were no injections or blood taken (I hate needles) all I had were eye drops. The drops were anaesthetic through the procedure I was told to look at the light on the machine. I never saw anything coming towards my eye or felt any pain just more eye drops. I was waiting for mr man try to start and a lovely nurse was holding my hand, when mr mantry said that’s it it’s all done. I was absolutely amazed and can’t wait to have my next eye done, I have had no problems since the operation just have to take more eye drops. I would recommend mr mantry as an excellent surgeon.

Having booked an apt online I was called and asked to come in 3 hours earlier, we live an hour away so I had to reschedule husband & children due to needing driven. My husband left work early to accommodate and we fed kids in car on way, all to help consultant leave his private practice early and accommodate him. I had filled forms online and when arrived at private hospital angain, including credit card info being taken so was taken aback by first question being, how are you paying for this! Third time I feel is overkill and especially coming from the consultant. Once he established how I was paying he was not very friendly and it felt he just wanted me out! I felt more of a nuisance being there. What really upset me was when finished the consult, he sat at his desk, back to me and did not even look at me or say goodbye! This will be the last time I stress my family to enable a consultant an early evening, especially when not even acknowledging the fact! He was just rude!

I had LASIK three months ago. My prescription was -3.5 and -2.75. I was meant to be corrected to 0 and -0.5 (for reading) but I was undercorrected and left with -0.75 and -1.00, meaning I still need glasses. Very frustrating after spending so much money on this. I have found the whole process very upsetting and was repeatedly told my eyesight would improve as I healed but it’s been the same as it was on day 1. Mr Mantry also laughed at me when I said I felt my eyesight was only corrected 75%. I was offered a further operation for LASEK on one eye, but I do not trust them to get it right at such a small margin if they couldn’t get it right the first time. Or risking further damage and healing to my eye.
