Professional background- Mr. Rohit Shetty Mr. Rohit Shetty is a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon, with a special interest in complex spinal surgery. Mr. Shetty was appointed as Consultant spinal surgeon to the Whittington Hospital and The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London in 2010. He led the Adult Deformity service at Queen Square. He now works full time at the Whittington Hospital in North London. Mr. Shetty graduated from Manipal University, India in 1995. He obtained his Masters in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, and was awarded the Gold Medal for Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery, from Manipal University in 1997. He then obtained the National Board Certification exams in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 1999. He underwent specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic training from South East Thames, Guys and St Thomas rotation, London from 2002. During this period, he completed a Diploma in Trauma and Orthopaedics from the University of Brighton and was awarded Distinction for Best Outgoing Student in 2006. He passed his FRCS Intercollegiate Trauma and Orthopaedics Board exams in 2007 from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is fellowship trained in all aspects of spinal surgery. He completed two national fellowships and one international fellowship. The first was aimed at the degenerative spine under the guidance of Mr Robert Marshall (ex BASS President) at Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. The second was at the prestigious Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery, Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham and mainly dealt with spinal deformity and reconstructive surgery. He then completed a short term fellowship at Inselspital and Schulthess Swiss Olympic Medical Centre in Switzerland.
