Mr R Gupta did a Arthroscopic Rotator cuff repair on my left shoulder on the 26th July 2023, the operation was very successful and I received great care while I was in Ashford hospital. After having been in a cage for six weeks I received physiotherapy at Ashford hospital which was very good and helped my recovery. I have now been discharged by both Mr R Gupta and the Physiotherapy department as my shoulder is in a very good place. One very happy patient.

Without any shadow of a doubt, I would highly recommend Mr. Gupta. He explains and takes time explaining and answering any questions throughout the whole process. He Listens and remembers what you have said. An excellent surgeon.! I first met Mr. Gupta in 2013 when he repaired my right shoulder rotator Cuff. It was a successful operation. At the time he did say that in about 10 years, I may need a shoulder replacement. He was right. The only thing that concerned me that after 11 years I may not be able to request Mr Gupta to do the operation and whether or not he was still working at St.Peters. Good news! My GP did a referral for me to see him. I then had an appointment to see Mr Gupta last year 2023 and had my operation in November For a Right Reverse Geometry total shoulder replacement. Now 5 months down the line I am pain-free. The scar itself healed very quickly with no complications, very neat and 5 months on you can hardly see it. I cannot thank him enough for such a great job. He has now signed me off. Also, I would like to add he has a great team working for him. He's so well liked by staff as well as patients.

Three years ago I fell and broke my shoulder and after a consultation with one of the NHS consultants in St Peter’s A&E, it was recommended that I needed a reverse shoulder replacement. I was put on the trauma list and two months later I was booked in for the operation. On the day of the operation, following an x-ray, I was visited by the surgeon who told me that my bones had knitted and an operation wasn’t necessary. Of course I was delighted but on the other hand my shoulder didn’t feel any better! I attended many physio sessions over the following months but in hindsight it was like flogging a dead horse! Some time later I returned to the hospital for a check up, this time with a different consultant (as the first one I saw had left to go abroad)! I was told that my shoulder was still broken! The consultation was inconclusive and I left with the impression to just continue with physiotherapy. After that I seemed to disappear off the hospital radar, apparently due to a computer glitch and never heard from anyone again! Almost two years later, feeling at a loss and very frustrated and dragging around a broken shoulder I eventually decided to take things into my own hands and booked a private consultation with Mr Gupta, who had been recommended to me. He was instantly sympathetic and maybe a little shocked at my predicament. He arranged for an x-ray and scan which showed the extent of the injury. He explained that I needed a reverse shoulder replacement and he was very reassuring and thorough outlining the procedure. I was transferred to the NHS as I wasn’t covered privately and as soon as was possible I was admitted to Ashford Hospital. At last I felt I was in safe hands and totally trusted Mr Gupta to sort out my shoulder. The operation was successful and I was so relieved to be on the mend. Mr Gupta was amazing and I received great care from both him and the hospital. (Unfortunately six months later I had another stupid fall and broke my elbow on the same side but luckily it didn’t have any impact on the shoulder implant!). I have had several post operation check ups since with Mr Gupta and all along he has been incredibly thorough and caring to ensure a successful outcome. My shoulder is feeling great and I hope to be able to swing a few golf balls soon! I can highly recommend Mr Gupta as a surgeon not only for his skill but also for his lovely caring personality!

Mr Gupta is a very caring, respectful & professional person. In the time I have been under his care he has always been very clear in explaining every aspect of my treatment & care. If it was not for him I am sure I would not have a working elbow after the horrendous treatment I received on holiday where I fractured my elbow in numerous places. On returning to the UK I received excellent and speedy treatment. Which helped enormously to the recovery of my arm. If it wasn’t for Mr Gupta and his team I don’t think I would have recovered so well. My quick recover has enabled me to carry on most aspects of my life including driving amongst other things.

This was a follow-up and signing off appointment. Mr Gupta has always been thorough and professional. He has always been very caring and has explained every aspect of my care and treatment. I have experienced in my lifetime many admissions and treatments in various hospitals and have never received the organised and caring experience that I have received at St Peter’s & Ashford Hospital. I would not hesitate to say this is the best Trust I have dealt with. Considering the traumatic experience I had when I first slipped and fell on holiday in Greece, the horrendous state my elbow was left in by major surgery in Greece, returning to the U.K. and being treated so speedily by Mr Gupta and his team, I underwent 2 further operations to put things right with a complete elbow replacement. My physiotherapists were brilliant enabling me to get back the use of my elbow In a fairly short time, allowing me to do most things including driving. I am sincerely grateful to Mr Gupta.
