Mr Strachan done a total knee replacement for me around 4 weeks ago, which thanks to him is healing well. He is a very caring man as I saw when he done his ward rounds the way he spoke to all the patients in the ward and I couldn't thank him enough for the treatment I received from him and all the the staff in Ward 7 Charing Cross Hospital

Mr Strachan is approachable and makes time to listen to you . He seems to really care about his patients and is also very funny. He carried out a total knee replacement two months ago and I can’t praise his care and professionalism enough.

In 2015 I had a left knee replacement by a different surgeon. At the end of 2016 it went very wrong and doctors misdiagnosed the problem as rheumatism. Eventually the registrar told me he was sure this was a mechanical problem. Through a private consultation with a colleague if Mr Strachan I was referred to him for a very serious revision surgery which Mr Strachan carried out in April, 2018. Unfortunately, despite his meticulous care, I did get some infection. Mr Strachan was dedicated to watching over me every step of my recovery and has only now, 14 months later, discharged me. Now, I need a right knee replacement and guess who I want to do that? Charing Cross Hospital gave great and concerned care throughout too.

I had a total knee replacement in July 2018 by this wonderful surgeon. Not only is his surgery outstanding but he is such a caring person. The operation was entirely successful but I reacted very badly to the anaesthetic resulting in a longer stay in hospital. One morning when I felt very low I heard later that he asked members of staff to come and talk to me during the day. I had quite a few visitors that day which was such a help. He also arranged for rehabilitation at a local centre and later paid me a personal visit because his staff failed to inform him when my clips were removed. He makes a point of being present at this time - just another example of his meticulous work and his caring attitude. I think he deserves a medal - even a knighthood! Tessa West
