Our very sporty 13-year old son was diagnosed with a Ewing’s Sarcoma in 2019. In Ireland, the only surgical option we were given would have resulted in him losing his shoulder function. Luckily, we sought a second opinion from Mr Pollock and we travelled to see him in London in August. Our immediate impression was of a surgeon who was willing to engage directly with our son in a relaxed, non-superior manner, and clearly communicate the options available to him. Following consultation with his colleagues, a different form of surgery that would save his shoulder was recommended. We also had issues with completing formalities in Ireland ahead of surgery, and Mr Pollock’s assistant, Frankie, was hugely helpful to us. We travelled to RNOH Stanmore in October, when surgery took place. We were very impressed with Mr Pollock’s communication throughout that day, as it was an eight-hour surgical procedure. Since surgery, we have had issues with Irish orthopaedic follow-up, but Mr Pollock has always been more than willing to be available to us, and we have since travelled back to London to see him. We would highly recommend Mr Pollock to anyone, and our son’s story could have been a very different one had we not met him. Our 13-year old thinks that “Mr Pollock should be knighted as Sir Rob Pollock”!

There are people who do their job. There are people who do their job well. And then, there are people who are angels. Francesca, Mr. Pollock's wonderful secretary, is one such angel. Nothing is to much trouble. Always sweet, friendly, personal, knowledgeable, caring, expedient approach. Francesca put me in a better place by generously giving me her time on the phone the day before my tumor operation. I am so glad and grateful to have had this. Lovely Francesca clearly represent the culture and level of service Mr. Pollock cultivates on his team. Thank you ever so much. Cupcakes are on me once we are on the other side of the surgery, fingers crossed. Bless you and thank you. Jackline Staats

Rob Pollock was initially recommended to me in 2017 by a friend who was a semi-retired (now fully retired) GP. I had had a great deal of trouble with my knees for some 10 years or so at that point. Various treatments on the NHS over that period - cortisone injections, arthroscopic procedures to trim cartilage (meniscus?), etc. - had afforded me limited, if any, relief from my discomfort, and owing to my (relative!) youth (I was 59 in 2017) there appeared to be considerable reluctance on the part of the NHS consultant I'd been seeing to offer me replacement surgery. On consulting Mr Pollock, however, I was assured that such surgery would be possible, and under his care, in November, 2017, I underwent a unicompartmental right knee replacement (arthroplasty?), followed in November, 2019, by a total left knee replacement. In both cases the surgery has been a total success, and the debilitating pain from my arthritis has completely disappeared. At all stages in the process, from initial consultations and investigations, through the procedures themselves, the aftercare, and subsequent follow-up consultations, Mr Pollock has been friendly, courteous, sympathetic and fulsome in his explanations of what he proposed to do/had done. Moreover, where so many consultant surgeons can fall into the trap of being patronising or condescending to their patients, I never detected the slightest trace of that in Rob Pollock's manner. I rate him extremely highly, and would recommend him to anybody. Lee Power

I had excellent care. The surgery was a success and passed without much problem. His assistant Frankie provided timely and excellent support post operation, and ready to answer questions.

Mr Pollock's initial approach was cautious which was correct. Rather than commit me to an operation immediately, he ensured over more than a year that my bone density was such that it was appropriate for me to undergo the operation satisfactorily. His care and attention both pre- and post-operative gave me a degree of confidence
